Salary range: £50,000 to £70,000 per annum DOE 

Location: Bristol, Gloucester, Leatherhead, Glasgow, Burton, Manchester 

Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home

The Nuclear Stations and Systems Team focus on the civil nuclear industry and support developing sites, generating sites and defuelling / decommissioning sites. We’re seeking someone with significant experience of the nuclear industry to join our diverse growing team. 

  

Your role may encompass a range of technical skills and you’ll have a proven track record of using your experience and knowledge to deliver fit for purpose solutions to complex problems. You’ll undertake work for clients on significant nuclear safety related problems and support other staff in planning and performing such work. You'll work through the entire project lifecycle – from identifying opportunities and creating winning bids, to efficient project management and delivery, all the way to the seamless closure of projects. 

  

The types of work you could be involved with include: 

  • Technical requirements capture, optioneering, and specification authoring. 
  • Being responsible for the design, manufacture, delivery, installation and / or commissioning of plant items and systems and solving issues as they arise. 
  • Technical integration of design and safety case requirements. 
  • Authoring and Verifying nuclear safety case proposals and key supporting documents. 
  • Walking down equipment at a nuclear site to ensure it remains qualified to meet functional safety requirements or identify means for its remediation. 
  • Specifying plans to retire and remove plant, systems and structures to support safe, secure, cost-effective defuelling, dismantling and decommissioning. 

  

Key responsibilities for this role will include: 

  • Develop and execute strategies to handle various intricate nuclear challenges. 
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation to meet the demands of our clients. 
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship and training to colleagues and clients. 
  • Manage projects, ensuring they meet time, cost and quality expectations. 
  • Seek out new business opportunities and generate proposals and bids. 
  • Establish and build enduring client relationships. 

  

Essential requirements: 

  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science or engineering discipline. 
  • Technical knowledge within a particular field, e.g. mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, C&I. 
  • A history of delivering technical work well. 
  • Good problem-solving and interpersonal skills. 
  • Confident, clear and organised written communicator. 
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required. 

  

Desirable requirements: 

  • Engineering Management / Project Engineer capability. 
  • Architect Engineer experience. 
  • Electrical, C&I or Mechanical background. 
  • Experience of operations, engineering, safety case development at nuclear sites. 
  • Confidence in developing new business and maintaining client relationships. 
  • Project management experience in a consultancy (or similar) environment. 
  • Chartered (or working towards) with a professional institution.
