About the role:

We are looking for an experienced ETRM Developer with specific experience working at either an application system vendor or a similar trading operation. This role will be part of a trading systems specialist team supporting our commercial energy trading as it grows its commodity trading business across Europe and North America. Our trading application (C/ETRM) is critical to manage our commodity trading activities and for the provision of daily reporting.

The successful candidate will be working closely with the trading, middle office, trade management, and supply operations teams. As part of this team, you will have the ability to learn all elements of the trading business and develop in a fast-paced, dynamic global environment.  

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Drive the delivery of C/ETRM enhancements and developments to support the commercial activities of the Supply Trading and Logistics team,
• Drive automation of application-related tasks and controls as required by Supply, Trading and Logistics,
• Support daily trading and middle office tasks and reporting needs of the business,
• Support the project management of C/ETRM application enhancements and developments.
• Own application-related process documentation to maintain and optimise overall C/ETRM data entry quality and system performance,
• Provide technical support to business users of the trading application.
• Support daily trading and middle office tasks and reporting needs of the business,
• Support data interface operations and development between the trading application and other systems used by Supply, Trading and Logistics, such as planning/scheduling applications, ERP, Supply and Despatch models, amongst others,  
• Roll out periodical vendor upgrades and participate in user acceptance testing as related to application changes or enhancements.
• Manage the resolution of technical issues for business users with the application vendors, as well as support the day-to-day relationship with the vendors.
• Collaborating with business users and IT support to ensure optimal C/ETRM performance and assist the IT team at Circle K in resolving issues that impact system infrastructure.  

Job Requirements (Must Haves):

• 3-4 years of software development experience, specifically with experience of C/ETRM commodity trading applications,
• Strong programming and database management skills, and solid hands-on experience of relational databases, data modelling, SQL and Phyton scripting,
• Degree level with relevant recognized qualification in Computer Science or related field,
• Team player with time spent working in a multi-discipline team,
• Strong problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to develop, debug and maintain code; identify root causes; and proactively work with other teams to provide workarounds or solutions.
• Specific hands-on experience of maintaining applications in a vendor development or a similar trading enterprise environment, with examples of previous application development and successful implementations,
• Previous success delivering application enhancement and development projects, and familiarity with different IT project delivery methods,
• Broad awareness of C/ETRM, commodity trading activities (including freight and logistics), market risk methodologies, hedging practices as well as front, middle and back-office processes. 
• Demonstrate high integrity and the ability to constructively challenge business users’ requirements and challenges to achieve the best outcomes for CKET.

Additional Requirements (Good to Have):

• Experience using AI-powered development tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or GitHub Copilot to enhance development productivity,
• Hands-on experience working with APIs and integration tools, including tools such as Postman and/or Swagger for testing and documentation,
• Working experience of operating an application as part of end-to-end system solution and the use of monitoring tools like Zabbix/Grafana/Kibana,
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS), including deployment and support of data or application workloads
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as AWS MWAA (Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow),
• Confidence with ticketing or incident tracking tools, such as Service Now and JIRA,
• Strong data analytics and reporting skills; specific knowledge of Power BI is a benefit.
• Good knowledge of change management processes.
