Strategic Sales Director – Law Firms and Academic, Bar & Government

Reporting directly to the Head of Legal Professionals, Europe, this Sales Director role is responsible for achievement of sales, revenue and retention targets for 120 of the UK and Europe’s most strategic law firm partners as well as the strategic team of Academic, Bar and Government for the entire Thomson Reuters suite of legal solutions including Practical Law, Westlaw UK, HighQ and CoCounsel.

Direct oversight of 2 x Sales Managers and overall leadership of a 20+ person sales team. This role requires close coordination with segment partners, ensuring the voice of the customer informs the development of proposition strategy and new product development for the customers served by the segment.  The ideal candidate embraces new approaches to growth, whether via sales automation, close partnership with SDRs and BDRs and inspiring the team to deliver consistent results for the business and achieve personal success.

About The Role:

  • Own top-line sales metrics for the entire suite of Thomson Reuters’ legal solutions
  • Ensure rigorous pipeline management and hygiene by the team to drive accurate forecasts
  • Develop and executes strategies, including sales campaigns, account allocation and pipeline management to achieve sales and revenue targets.
  • Leads strategic planning for territory and provides guidance to sales leadership/colleagues on account strategies and tactics.
  • Prepares and presents executive presentations.
  • Implements metrics to measure account performance.
  • Provides input in process of designing and evaluating compensation plans, territory alignment, incentive plans and programs to drive sales results.
  • Ensure customer and colleague satisfaction is at the forefront of everything you do.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the company culture and values, and champion these within your teams and across the business.
  • Maintain high awareness of legal tech market and competitors. Establish external networks to stay in touch with the market and our customers.
  • Provide feedback and market requirements to drive product innovation and improved market competitiveness.
  • Anticipate internal and external business developments and assess requirements to ensure competitive positioning is maintained for assigned territory.
  • Ensure team develops relationships with buying decision-makers and influencers in target law firms/organisations
  • Drive and promotes adherence to relevant Rules of Engagement, Code of Conduct and Ethics and all related policy compliance and process requirements

About You:

  • Proven ability to deliver results through development of key sales and revenue metrics.
  • Proven ability to engage and work with C:Suite Customers
  • Expert in strategic/consultative selling
  • Demonstrable track record of leading, enabling and motivating a high performing diverse team to deliver their best
  • Ability to build relationships, influence and gain resources from across the organisation.
  • Ability to motivate, coach and mentor in a customer facing environment.
  • Proven presentation, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and capability to apply these skills to all audiences.
  • Excellent leadership skills with proven track record of attainment of company goals in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Expert understanding and experience in sales management.
  • Fully competent in Customer Relationship Management systems.
  • Fully competent in financial acumen.
  • Experience selling Legal Tech software and content solutions within the legal industry preferred
