Raye IT is looking for an engineer with Linux & Windows experience to support the infrastructure of on-premises physical and virtual systems,

Responsibilities

  • Provide implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance support for Information Technology (IT) systems across Linux and Windows infrastructures.
  • Implement and maintain system hardening and STIG policies in alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Perform Windows system administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and support of multi-site environments.
  • Manage VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter and ESXi, supporting physical and virtual infrastructure across multiple locations.
  • Configure, deploy, and manage Linux and Windows operating systems within physical servers, ESXi virtual environments, and cloud-based virtual machines.
  • Support cloud infrastructure deployments and operations within Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes for Linux and Windows servers and workstations using tools such as WSUS, Red Hat Satellite, and BigFix.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement automation strategies and deployment processes.
  • Identify recurring issues and develop process improvements to reduce incident response and outage times.
  • Develop, document, and maintain Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Write, modify, and maintain scripts using Python, Perl, PowerShell, Java, C, or similar languages.
  • Utilize JIRA within an Agile development environment to track work and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of systems administration experience or equivalent transferable technical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience administering systems including:
  • User account management
  • Server and subsystem configuration
  • Network management
  • Software installation and configuration
  • Backup and recovery operations
  • Configuration management and routine system maintenance
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Windows Server 2016/2019, Active Directory architecture, DNS, and Group Policy Object (GPO) management
  • Linux system administration, specifically RHEL 7 and RHEL 8
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Fundamental networking concepts
  • Distributed computing environments
  • Windows and Linux desktop systems
  • Performance tuning and capacity planning at both hardware and software levels
  • Experience with VMware ESXi and vSphere virtualization methodologies.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes and best practices.
