Senior Engineer - Business Engineering and Strategy

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will apply fundamental engineering, scientific, and business principles to:

  • Lead optimization of business processes related to pharmaceutical manufacturing Drug Substance process development, technology transfer, and operations.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to develop and deploy digital business process solutions to facilitate knowledge management and business process execution.
  • Provide technical leadership for cross functional project teams working on business challenges.
  • Manage project resources (material, labor, time, etc.), and elevate relevant issues to project lead and line-management.
  • Communicate effectively at multiple organizational levels on project status, risks, issues, and accomplishments through presentations and documentation.
  • Build and maintain effective collaborations with partner organizations across Amgen’s Process Development and Operations Networks.
  • Work independently and is organized, able to multi-task projects, and skilled in facilitation and teamwork.
  • Keep current on the latest industrial, scientific, business, and regulatory trends.

100% Remote. Option to go hybrid if close to site (Cambridge, MA or Thousand Oaks, CA)

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Engineering experience; Or
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of Engineering experience; Or
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Engineering experience; Or
  • Associate’s degree and 8 years of Engineering experience; Or
  • Doctorate degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a scientific discipline, bonus but not required: Advanced degree in engineering, business, or scientific discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience directly related to biotech/pharma development phases, technology transfer, scale up, and commercialization business process.
  • Able to apply engineering principles in-order to define, simplify, and solve complex process issues and to evaluate opportunities for process improvements.
  • Prior experience with the development and deployment of digital business tools.
  • Able to build and maintain high-performing, cross-functional partnerships and advance projects to completion.
  • Strong leadership skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of software tools for process simulation.
  • Possess understanding of regulatory and cGMP requirements.
  • Able to manage project resources and elevate relevant issues to project lead and line management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and provide a structured problem-solving approach.
  • Experience working under minimal direction.
  • Able to adapt to changing business needs and operational requirements.
  • Self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
