Fulmer/Perma-Cast, a division of Wabtec, is a manufacturer and distributor of electric motor brush holders and job shop of machined parts located at Westmoreland Industrial Park III in Export, Pennsylvania.  We are committed to provide world class quality and service of outstanding value to our customers which is aligned with our organizations vision and mission as it supports its corporate strategic direction and stake holders.

How will you make a difference?

At Fulmer/Perma-Cast; our focus is on building high-quality transportation & power generation brush holders, permanent mold castings, specialty CNC machining and manufacturing at competitive prices and extending personalized service to our customers. The Design Engineer at Fulmer/Perma-Cast assists in providing a quality product. This role is responsible for product design, design change, drawings, job costing, quotes and manufacturing processes.  This role is a key element to the overall customer support effort. The Manufacturing Design Engineer will report directly to the Operations Manager.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related degree
  • 3-5 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience with Machining and Manufacturing required.
  • Solid Experience in CAD such as Solid Works, & CAM
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/BOMs.
  • Ability to use measuring tools.
  • Strong ability with MS office suite.
  • Must be self-motivated and a team worker.
  • Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.
  • Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement change in process and procedures as needed.
  • Familiarity with machining principles (speeds, feeds, etc.), castings & brush holders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Be able to multi-task on projects and sales demands.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Coordinate part procurement and assembly of engineering prototypes.
  • Support the Customer Service and Sales teams with technical cost quotations
  • Properly package material being shipped to other Wabtec facilities or to 3rd parties. 
  • Manage the engineering change process by means of marking drawings and providing written background, create product bills of material (BOM), and product routings for manufacturing.
  • Execute product validation test plans.
  • Check test specifications, makes calculations, plot data and write reports (according to department standards).
  • Utilize strong mechanical skills to maintain, repair, and calibrate engineering equipment.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to resolve mechanical and technical problems on pneumatic valves.
  • Perform part inspection functions using micrometers, electronic gauges, calipers and similar tools/equipment.
  • Optimize engineering labs, parts storage, and model shop to improve process and eliminate waste.
  • Provide support and technical expertise to engineers, customers, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and other business units.
  • Operate cranes, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
  • Participate in field testing and onsite manufacturing support.
  • Domestic and international travel required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$77,400.00-$110,300.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
