Manager, Drug Product – WCL (Warehouse Cryogenics and Logistics)

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Drug Product – Warehousing Project Lead, the Manager will assist in the launch of an SDP (sterile drug product) manufacturing facility and will continue to support its commercial operations after the initial start-up phase. During the project phase, this role will work closely with the project teams to provide warehouse and supply chain support. In addition, this role will support the operations readiness and the technical transfer programs for new product introduction.

Post-start up the Manager may be responsible for managing teams and warehousing activities in support of the campus at Cruiserath Biologics. The role will maintain adherence to the site production schedule. They will be responsible for ensuring close collaboration and alignment with manufacturing, supply chain, maintenance, warehouse, MS&T and other teams as required.

Key Responsibilities During Start Up

  • Develop and implement Warehousing processes and procedures that are aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the WCL function to support multi-functional matrix teams to ensure that all WCL operations are optimised and integrated with other functions such as manufacturing, quality, and finance.
  • Support the implementation of SAP master data and production version build for the facility's supply chain and warehousing operations, manufacturing, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Ensure integration with key interfaces such as MES, maintaining accurate real time inventory management.
  • Develop the WCL process and procedures and ensure all production and warehouse related requirements are included.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and other project-related documentation.
  • Support and represent WCL at campus Tier meetings and collaborate with other functions and project suite, and construction teams.
  • Hiring of key team members and supporting curricula build and assigning training requirements.

Key Responsibilities During Commercial Operations

  • Promote Safety, Leadership, Team Building, Performance Standards and BMS Behaviours.
  • Management of Warehouse operations and Kanban replenishment throughout SDP and the WCL.
  • Performs as a WCL SME for technical issue trouble shooting/resolution during/post start-up including commercial manufacture and tech transfer.
  • Represent WCL as support for SAP and MES Projects.
  • Design, develop and update procedures for WCL ensuring cross functional stakeholders are aligned.
  • Supports investigations and CAPAs as required.
  • Supports change controls related to materials management and WCL activities.
  • Provide project management support for new product implementations, productivity improvement, harmonisation activities and general site initiatives.
  • Serves as the “acting” WCL Senior Manager in absence of the WCL Senior Manager to coordinate, direct and oversee work execution.
  • Supports and leads key meetings on behalf of WCL area.
  • Supports QA audit activities.
  • Work with CQV team to accomplish validation activities for the WCL area.
  • Identifies, executes and drives continuous improvements in the WCL areas and processes.
  • Lead and implement Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Effectively uses process automation systems (e.g., Syncade) and some business support systems (e.g., SAP, MES etc.) 
  • Inform WCL Senior Manager of any safety, quality, manufacturing or team concerns.
  • Potential people management duties, including management of shift teams.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • B.S in Supply Chain Management, Business or Science related discipline preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing or Supply Chain Role with experience in Production, GMP Warehousing and logistics.
  • Experience and knowledge in Biologics Manufacturing is preferred. Detailed knowledge of Sterile Drug Product would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent people management skills and people management experience.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, and/or ERP and MES systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities against ambitious timelines. Strong project management ability.
  • Works well in a team environment, leadership ability with strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a cross functional collaborative environment.
  • A clear understanding of cGMP requirements for manufacturing and/or systems and compliance.
  • High Proficiency of computerised production and inventory control systems (SAP) as well as manufacturing execution. systems (MES), QMS and documentation practices.
  • High degree of problem-solving ability and adherence to scheduled timelines.
