Banner Health is seeking an IT Database Sr Consultant. This candidate must possess a high level of expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration. Must have strong customer and team communication skills. A bachelor's degree in computer information or related field is desired but not required. Must demonstrate expert knowledge of database administration, general information technology and problem-solving techniques. Requires communication and presentation skills to engage technical and non-technical audiences. Requires ability to communicate and interact across technical teams and at various levels. As is typical in this industry, variable shifts, hours and carrying/responding to a pager will be required. The Database Administration Team at a health organization is a vital component of the IT infrastructure, responsible for managing and securing the organization's data systems. This position will be a based out of our Phoenix Corporate location with the ability to work remotely. Typical work hours are between 8am – 5pm but will also include off hour responsibilities. A typical day will include attending meetings on issue resolution, project status, change control and maintenance. You will be joining a seasoned team to assist in leading our efforts as they relate to performing reviews on all database related equipment and managing software/hardware upgrades. This senior level candidate will work with the team supporting our Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure including all our On Prem and Cloud based environments across the enterprise. This position will require extensive troubleshooting as well as working with documentation of processes and standards for the server and database, keeping these up to date and relevant.

This position is responsible for the strategic direction and maintenance of the technical database environment for the company’s business systems. Acts independently or leads teams in the direction and coordination of hardware and software system configurations. Incumbent is responsible for resolution of database problems and issues assuring solution is timely and of acceptable quality. Data administration is principally responsible for the efficient and effective management of the corporation's databases ensuring highly available, stable and recoverable databases with data integrity.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Defines, installs, coordinates, implements, and tests database backup and recovery methodology for each data server. Mentor junior team members on performance monitoring and quickly identifying then correcting performance bottlenecks.
2. Provides day-to-day support and guidance in handling the daily schedule of department production jobs. Technically stable data dictionary, data security and application database environments through appropriate monitoring/control. Effective management support through the timely response to management staff problems and needs.
3. Investigates new technologies/products and healthcare industry trends in respect to their implications on the responsibilities of department through the effective use of continuing education programs, associations, and publications.
4. Formulates the design and direction of technical standards and policies regarding data, imports, exports and general access to data. Ensures that department, company, and industry standards are implemented and consistently adhered to.
5. Provides technical expertise and guidance to peers. Sets the development and maintenance standards for data usage, manage the physical space and placement requirements of data, compile and assimilate information about the characteristics, accessibility, and interdependence of data.
6. Evaluate project assignments and present time and cost estimates for database modifications, development or installations.
7. Collaborates on feasibility studies, request for information/proposal (RFI/RFP) assembly, return on investment (ROI) calculations, capital or operating budgets or other high level strategic planning sessions.
8. This position participates in the technical stability of information technology database applications. Work is performed in a fast paced multi-tasked environment where there may be conflicting priorities or tight deadlines. The incumbent has minor level decision-making authority and works at peer level with across diverse areas and multiple states. The incumbent participates in meetings, presentations, visioning sessions, strategic and planning sessions, implementation activities, and supports functions company wide.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in related field plus 6 years experience in a healthcare environment or an equivalent combination of relevant education, technical, business and healthcare experience typically achieved in 8 years.
Must demonstrate general knowledge of information technology and healthcare. Needs experience in medium scale project planning and reporting either individual or team.
Requires communication and presentation skills to engage technical and non-technical audiences. Requires ability to communicate and interact across facilities and at various levels. Incumbent will have skills to mentor less experienced team members. As is typical in this industry, variable shifts and hours and carrying/responding to a pager may be required.
