What does a successful Vice President, Application Operations, Global Services do?
At Fiserv, Global Services delivers technology and operations that power payments and financial services worldwide. The Vice President, Application Operations leads a significant portion of the global AppOps organization, ensuring the performance, stability, and availability of client-facing applications across Fiserv’s platforms. This role drives operational excellence through proactive monitoring, incident management, and strategic capacity planning. This role partners with the global head of AppOps and ICTO to advance service excellence and continuous improvement across technology stacks and operating processes.
What will you do:
• Oversee end-to-end application operations for mission-critical systems supporting clients and partners. Ensure maximum uptime and high-performance environments across distributed platforms.
• Accountable for managing a 24/7 Application Operations organization, ensuring seamless delivery of critical changes, upgrades, and implementation initiatives, with a significant portion of these mandates originating from India
• Serve as the single point of accountability and escalation to clients, business stakeholders, and the FIG organization for technology service provisioning.
• Responsible for Incidents management, change management, release management, SRE and automation for a large portfolio of applications and platforms.
• Manage the monitoring and support for India hours. Serve as the escalation point for critical incidents impacting multiple clients.
• Drive initiatives to enhance application resiliency and reduce outages through root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Champion the “Never Again” mindset for incident prevention and operational excellence.
• Engage regularly with key business and CIO-level stakeholders to align priorities, participate in joint planning, and drive high stakeholder satisfaction and Customer LTR scores.
• Lead execution of enterprise-wide programs and initiatives that align to strategic goals, including adoption of strategic technology tools and automation initiatives.
• Combine technical, architectural, and commercial expertise to optimize technology utilization, reduce costs, and improve profitability across the solution portfolio.
• Champion automation of operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Oversee production architecture, ensure high availability and capacity planning, and coordinate cross-functional response for incidents and major changes.
• Lead hiring, development, and scaling of a diverse global workforce aligned to corporate and country goals.
• Accountable for adherence to compliance processes, ITIL controls, risk management, business continuity, and reporting of operational and financial metrics.
What you will need to have:
• 20+ years of experience in enterprise application operations and production support for large-scale, global payments or banking platforms.
• Proven experience in leading enterprise-scale Artificial Intelligence initiatives, with a strong focus on implementing AI-driven automation solutions for mid- to large-scale projects.
• Executive stakeholder management and executive-level communication experience across global client and business audiences.
• Proven track record leading global, cross-functional transformation programs (service consolidation, data center operations, M&A integration).
• 20+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, hybrid on-prem/cloud infrastructure design, and cloud platform strategy (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• 15+ years of experience in automation, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• 15+ years of experience in database and middleware operations and capacity planning (Oracle, SQL Server, Kafka, WebLogic/Tomcat).
• 15+ years of experience in ITSM and service management platforms and processes (ITIL, ServiceNow, incident/problem/change management).
• 15+ years of experience in vendor and third-party management, contract oversight, and financial management for IT services and infrastructure.
• 15+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.
What would be great to have:
• Experience in payments or banking industry technology portfolios and commercial contract negotiations.
• Certifications such as TOGAF, PMP, CISSP, or proven experience leading ITIL/ServiceNow transformations.
• Direct experience managing technology budgets and driving cost-reduction programs tied to infrastructure and human capital.
