About the Role:

As the Technical Program Manager at Abnormal, you will be a cornerstone in our newly formed R&D Engine Team. The function is built on the foundation of clear roles, efficient systems, and effective communication channels. It's designed to harness the collective intelligence of our teams, align our efforts with customer needs, and drive continuous improvement in our products and processes.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that our R&D teams (especially in APAC) can deliver a consistent and holistic product experience to our customers. In our hybrid and distributed work environment, your role will be to embed and champion simple and organized systems across our Product Divisions and Standing Teams, facilitating a streamlined delivery motion that amplifies the impact of our Multi-Product Platform. By fostering agile methodologies and leveraging tools like Jira, you will enable our Divisions and teams to provide weekly updates on product enhancements, effectively communicate our roadmap, and keep our organization on a successful path of growth and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the connector between R&D APAC and all other locations for the R&D Engine.
  • R&D Process definition: Intentional definition of a few chosen lightweight processes that are encouraged for the Divisions and Teams within Abnormal.
  • Tool Utilization and Process Consistency: Promote the consistent use of artifacts, processes, and tools across teams to capture and track progress, ensuring a unified approach to documenting customer impact.
  • R&D Documentation: Build on and maintain high fidelity and consistent living documentation for R&D wide information, practices, processes, and knowledge.
  • Training and Development: Design training on R&D practices and tools, tailored to the specific needs of Product Divisions, Standing Teams, and leaders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with Product Division leaders R&D Management, and cross-functional Abnormal leaders to aggregate and organize process outcomes, supporting informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Roadmap and Release Process Management: Guide teams in the development and communication of product roadmaps and release processes, ensuring clear and consistent customer-facing content.
  • Cultural amplifier and organizer: Support the successful planning and execution of R&D cultural investments such as hackathons, all-hands meetings, contests and awards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as Technical Project / Program Manager, Agile Coach, Scrum Master, Engineering Operations Lead or similar role in a software development or technology-focused environment. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence teams across a distributed work environment.
  • Proficiency in using Jira & Confluence or similar project management tools, along with sheets, to drive and track software development across multiple teams.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently given a large problem to solve.
  • Experience in leading and managing a variety of projects and programs along with product roadmaps and release processes in a fast-paced, technology-driven company.
