This role is part of the Business Lines Legal Team, which provides the frontline support for Zillow’s products and services.

About the role

We are looking for an outstanding product attorney to provide legal support to our Follow Up Boss business. While serving as the legal point-of-contact for the business line, this attorney will be responsible for handling a broad range of legal matters, with a focus on product development, software and data licensing, marketing and claim substantiation, commercial contracts, trust & safety protocols, and customer support issues.

Just as important as providing quick and accurate legal advice will be this attorney’s ability to identify, engage, and collaborate with other team members within Legal and Compliance and other shared services. Support includes all aspects of the product development lifecycle, including product design and copy, marketing collateral, vendor / partner contracts, customer service scripts/escalation, data use & privacy implications, and disclosures and terms of use

  • Embed yourself with business partners and provide tactical and pragmatic legal counsel for special projects, pilot programs, and other key initiatives

  • Proactively partner with cross-functional business teams and shared services (e.g., privacy, fair housing, finance, compliance, risk, licensing, communications, and marketing) to identify and resolve novel legal matters that arise during the product development lifecycle

  • Analyze proposed and enacted legislative changes that impact assigned products and work with government relations and product teams to develop and carry out implementation plans

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including for key strategic partnerships

  • Collaborate closely with other internal partners, including other product attorneys, privacy, finance, tax, risk management and information security and compliance
