Internship Program Overview: Our 2025 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-12-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 2, 2025. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer.  

Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC’s many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program. 

Our Summer 2025 Internship Program application deadline is Monday, December 2. All materials must be submitted by EOD that date – incomplete or late applications will not be considered. 

Department Overview: The Equity and Community Impact Department ensures NYCEDC advances equity by providing technical assistance, measurement and evaluation, strategy, and stakeholder engagement. Our Program Evaluation team plays a key role in measuring the impacts of NYCEDC’s economic mobility programs, including the HireNYC and Community Hiring initiatives, ensuring all New Yorkers can access quality jobs and opportunities to thrive. Through data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and best practices research and hands-on learning, we work to enhance the city’s efforts toward equitable economic development. As an intern, you will work closely with the Assistant Vice President of Program Evaluation, helping to evaluate these impactful programs and contributing to the future of workforce development in NYC   

Intern Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with data collection, monitoring, reporting and tracking, compliance of workforce programs, including the HireNYC and Community Hiring programs.  
  • Analyze, synthesize, and visualize metrics and data collected from reporting to be able to present a picture of the use and effectiveness of program participation. 
  • Create and deliver memos or presentations on data collection and metrics analysis. 
  • Perform outreach and correspond with external stakeholders to request missing or unreported information. 
  • Review project contracts and conduct research on best practices for ensuring compliance in workforce development program evaluation 
  • Support Program Evaluation team with overall team goals and project management assistance as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • Preferred field(s) of study: Economic Development, Urban Studies, Equity, Public Policy, Statistics, Law, or related fields.  
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply 
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC 
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills  
  • Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines 
  • Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams 
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program 

Salary Target: $19.00/hour (undergraduate-level students); $24.00/hour (graduate-level students)
