Position Summary

A group of investigators in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the Washington University School of Medicine are seeking to hire two compassionate, dedicated Professional Rater IIs to join and amplify our growing team. We are seeking individuals with comfort and familiarity working with children and diverse families, and strong research and organizational skills. This position will be involved with two ongoing studies within the Early Emotional Development Program (EEDP) in the Department of Child Psychiatry. These studies primarily investigate relationships between early experiences, emotional development, and child psychopathology. We use methods that include parent and child interviews, child-friendly behavioral tasks, and administering EEGs (i.e., a measure of children’s brain activity) to children. In your role as a Professional Rater II, you will bring your clinical research expertise to conduct online (Zoom) and in-person clinical interview sessions and in-person EEG assessments with research participants between the ages of 4-7 and their caregivers. Through these comprehensive assessments, you will play an integral role in our data collection, supporting the assessment psychopathology while working in close collaboration with our team of investigators and research staff.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and conducts semi-structured clinical interviews with preteens and caregivers in-person as well as via teleconferencing tools (e.g., Zoom) and databases (e.g., REDCap) per study protocol.
  • Accurately documents and assesses participant history, symptoms, and diagnoses using clinical interviews, creating a comprehensive view of their psychological experiences.
  • Conducts in-laboratory EEG sessions with preteens.
  • Leverages your unique insights and clinical acumen to ensure participants are engaged with study procedures.
  • Engages in thoughtful communication with principal investigators, other clinical team members, and research staff, fostering a spirit of teamwork in service of our research and clinical mission.
  • Actively participates in continuous learning and professional development initiatives to stay at the forefront of research and clinical best practices.
  • Upholds the highest standard of participant confidentiality, ensuring stringent adherence to HIPPA regulations and institutional research guidelines.
  • Prepares/edits progress reports and attends meetings.
  • May participate in training of Professional Rater I.
  • Monitors and orders any supplies necessary for successfully conducting the research assessments

    Salary Range

    $19.21 - $28.85 / Hourly

    The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
