Summary: As a SAP Platform experts, you will serve as an integral member of the SAP Platform Ranger Squad team, with responsibilities that include conducting technology and platform assessments, providing informed recommendations, and driving improvements in the architecture, design, and deployment of large-scale SAP applications, infrastructure, data, integrations, and related systems. The role places a strong emphasis on automation, performance optimization, and operational excellence. You will be expected to innovate and scale SAP solutions and applications, ensuring their seamless integration and high availability across the enterprise. Additionally, as a platform ranger, you should demonstrate proficiency with the latest technologies and tools, such as generative AI, and actively disseminate this expertise throughout all SAP solutions. As an ABAP on Cloud Developer Lead, you will play a critical hands-on role in designing, developing, and deploying cloud-ready SAP ABAP applications. You will be responsible for building upgrade-safe, Clean Core-compliant, and RAP-based solutions within SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). You will work closely with functional teams, architects, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and performance-optimized business applications. This role demands proficiency in modern ABAP Cloud development, side-by-side extensibility, and in-app extensions leveraging whitelisted APIs and released objects. Key Responsibilities: • Develop, extend, and optimize applications using ABAP Cloud, RAP (RESTful Application Programming Model), and ABAP Development Tools (ADT). • Create CDS Views, Behavior Definitions (BDEF), Service Definitions, and Service Bindings for OData V2/V4 services. • Implement Clean Core principles by using whitelisted APIs, Released IFLIs, and adhering to Zero Modification Policy. • Leverage SAP BTP ABAP Environment (Steampunk) and Embedded Steampunk for side-by-side and in-app extensibility. • Utilize HANA Pushdown, AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures), and SQLM/SAT for performance optimization. • Integrate applications via SAP Integration Suite, Event Mesh, and API Management. • Configure and manage BTP subaccounts, destinations, and connectivity via Cloud Connector, IAS, and IPS. • Ensure code quality through ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit), SCI (SAP Code Inspector), and Cloud Readiness Checks. • Collaborate with CI/CD and DevOps processes using gCTS, cTMS, and Git-based transports. • Implement Fiori/UI5 front-end applications leveraging annotations, List Report/Object Page templates, and Smart Controls. • Perform unit testing, draft handling, and authorization annotations for RAP-managed business objects. • Support and enhance existing solutions while ensuring Clean Core compliance and upgrade safety. Technical Skills: Must-Have Skills: Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in ABAP Cloud, Clean Core transformations, and SAP BTP-based extensibility projects • Hands-on experience in ABAP Cloud, RAP, and ABAP on HANA. • Expertise in CDS Views, Behavior Implementations, and Fiori integration. • Strong understanding of Clean Core concepts, In-App and Side-by-Side extensibility. • Experience with SAP BTP ABAP Environment, Steampunk, and Integration Suite. • Familiarity with gCTS, cTMS, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps for ABAP. • Knowledge of BTP subaccounts, destinations, and identity management (IAS/IPS). • Solid grounding in performance optimization (HANA Pushdown, AMDP). • Understanding of SAP Event Mesh, Workflow, and Business Rules Services. • Exposure to OData services, Service Bindings, and Annotations. • Exposure to SAP Build Apps, SAP Launchpad Service, and Generative AI tools (Joule Studio, Build Code). • Experience with ABAP Unit Tests, ATC automation, and continuous delivery pipelines. • Familiarity with multi-tenant cloud deployments and microservices best practices. • Understanding of CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model) and API-driven integrations.
