Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and optimize RDS MySQL databases; provide support for Redshift where applicable.

  • Handle production support, including incident response, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of data platforms.

  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

  • Partner with Data Engineers to support data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and schema design.

  • Assist in building and maintaining infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines for data platform automation.

  • Collaborate with security and governance teams to ensure compliance with data policies and regulations.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency across the data platform.

  • Provide hands-on support for new projects and migrations, bridging DBA responsibilities with data engineering needs.

Required Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of experience in database administration and data platform engineering.

  • Strong experience with RDS MySQL (or equivalent relational DBMS in cloud environments).

  • Solid understanding of SQL, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

  • Experience supporting production environments, including monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and automation practices.

  • Ability to collaborate with Data Engineering teams to support pipelines, models, and data products.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Amazon Redshift administration and optimization.

  • Exposure to Matillion or Fivetran for data integration.

  • Familiarity with Bitbucket for CI/CD and version control.

  • Knowledge of OpenFlow or other orchestration/workflow tools.

  • Background in data governance, metadata management, and compliance frameworks.
