In order to further strengthen our Sales team in France, we are looking for a Sales Director (Directeur Commercial) who will be responsible for the “Home” (Retail/Grande Distribution) channel. The Sales Director Retail (GMS) is a key leadership role in the FR organization responsible for sales to all major retailers and discounters. The Sales Director together with their team will be responsible for delivering strong double digits Mio. revenue annually with significant room for growth.

This role requires travelling 2-3 days per week either to the Eastern Paris head office or nationwide across France to meet customers and sales teams. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Orientation

  • You will develop brand plans together with the marketing team to drive results in store  
  • You will be responsible for measuring trade & promotional investments to improve future ROI 
  • You take a category management approach to Kids Drinks Sector when talking to customers in order to grow total category 

Commercial Leadership

  • You will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the commercial strategy, pricing strategy, trade terms structure of the FR retail channel
  • You contribute to the development of medium and long-term strategy for the FR business by leveraging data analysis, customer and consumer insights
  • You will be responsible for delivering both top and bottom line results against agreed annual targets.
  • You will produce internally aligned plans in-line with consumer and retail trends
  • You will be responsible for forecasting accuracy and annual sales planning  
  • You will utilize SMART commercial metrics with team to review performance to ensure team is achieving results
  • In your function, you will closely collaborate with all internal functions: Marketing, Operations, Finance, HR

People Leadership

  • You lead a team of 3 Key Account Managers and 1 Sales Assistant
  • You focus on people engagement and development, creating an efficient and effective organization, an environment where people want to be and can thrive

Background & Experience

  • The incoming Sales Director Retail France must have a strong commercial FMCG background in a brand led Food or Beverage business
  • 10+ years of national account management experience in France with minimum of 3 years’ experience leading sales teams
  • Very well networked within the French trade and have a deep knowledge of the retail route to market 
  • Strong commercial acumen with solid experience implementing market wide annual price negotiations, managing multi-channel promotional mechanics & accountability for a commercial P&L 
  • Strong leader that creates a positive and collaborative working environment where people are comfortable and can be at their best
  • Strong communicator (both verbal and written) and is comfortable in connecting with stakeholders across an international organisation
  • Structured approach to all commercial tasks and initiatives and excellent presentation skills
  • Native French speaker with a strong command on English
