Engineering Co-op engineer opportunity for the Fall of 2025 is available on the AES Ohio Transmission Engineering Team. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • The successful candidate should be a student pursuing a four-year degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering.  

  • An academic standing of Sophomore status or higher is preferred. 

  • Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a strong academic background, exceptional attention to detail, and organization and team collaboration skills.  

  • Experience using design software such as PLS-CADD or SolidWorks and Microsoft Office applications - especially Excel - is also preferred. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES: 

The Transmission Engineering team collaborates with many areas of the Company, including Substation Engineering, P&C Engineering, operations, construction, planning and project management. Accordingly, the Co-op may be assigned to various departments during their internship position with the possibility of shadowing and learning from other teams. 

 

This internship will broaden the Co-op's knowledge and experience in the field of engineering by providing opportunities to: 

 

  • Design high voltage transmission line facilities in support of AES Ohio driven system improvements, reliability projects and system load growth. 

  • Participate in field visits to verify topography, identify obstacles and meet with construction crews to address engineering concerns and solicit design feedback. 

  • Update discrepancies between prints/schematics, databases and system models 

 

The Intern may be expected to complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
