Senior Engineering Manager – Data & ML Ops

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Data & ML Ops team, driving the design, development, and operationalization of enterprise-scale data pipelines and machine learning platforms. This role will ensure robust, scalable, and secure data and ML infrastructure that powers advanced analytics, AI-driven applications, and digital transformation initiatives across the organization.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of data engineers, ML engineers, and platform specialists to deliver high-performance solutions for data ingestion, processing, model deployment, and monitoring. This position is critical to enabling real-time insights, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation for our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for Data & ML Ops teams, fostering innovation and delivery excellence.
  • Architect and implement cloud-native data platforms for real-time ingestion, transformation, and analytics.
  • Drive ML Ops best practices for model lifecycle management, including training, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
  • Establish data governance and quality standards across pipelines and ML workflows.
  • Ensure platform scalability, security, and compliance with enterprise and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, product teams, and business stakeholders to translate AI/ML strategies into operational solutions.
  • Champion automation through CI/CD pipelines for data and ML workflows.
  • Partner with leadership on technical roadmaps, vendor ecosystems, and emerging technologies in data engineering and ML Ops.
  • Lead talent development, hiring, and organizational design for a high-performing engineering culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in software/data engineering, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.
  • Proven expertise in data engineering (ETL, streaming, batch processing) and ML Ops frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong knowledge of data pipelines (Kafka, Spark, Flink) and ML Ops tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker).
  • Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and automation for data and ML workflows.
  • Deep understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in enterprise environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with feature stores, model registries, and real-time inference systems.
  • Knowledge of GPU acceleration, distributed training, and high-performance computing.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and advanced analytics platforms.
  • Exposure to observability tools for ML pipelines (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Contributions to open-source projects or published work in data engineering or ML Ops.
