Job Summary

    The Staff Accountant, I supports the organization's financial operations by preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and reports while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley. Responsibilities include analyzing financial data, resolving discrepancies, assisting with audits, and collaborating across departments. Strong attention to detail and adherence to company policies are essential.

    Please note that this position offers full-time hours but is temporary.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Maintain high professional and ethical standards in a dynamic environment while adhering to AMN Healthcare's mission and policies.
    • Contribute to team knowledge and foster individual and team growth and development.
    • Develop effective communication and relationships across all departments within the organization.
    • Prepare timely reconciliations, supporting schedules, and documentation for balance sheet accounts and journal entries.
    • Research, resolve, and document reconciling items in accounts with supervisor input.
    • Develop an understanding of GAAP guidelines and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Analyze financial information for accuracy, explain fluctuations, and ensure transactions are reasonable, appropriate, and necessary.
    • Assist in responding to internal and external audit queries, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements.
    • Complete special projects and reports as assigned by management, maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
    • Assist in documenting corporate accounting department policies and procedures, performing other duties as requested.

    Key Skills

    • Experience with numbers and financial reports
    • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Effective Communication Skills

    Qualifications

      Education & Years of Experience

      • Bachelor's Degree plus 1-3 years of work experience OR High School Diploma/GED plus 4-6 years of work experience

      Certifications

      • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (Preferred)

      Additional Experience

      • Prior Accounting experience

      Work Environment / Physical Requirements

      • Work is performed in an office/home office environment.
      • Team Members must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

        Pay Rate

        $27.25 - $32.25 Hourly

        Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
