Job Summary:

The Developer Commercial Lead is part of the SMB team in the Global Markets organization, and responsible for PayPal’s end-to-end developer experiences in the UK – including developer onboarding, integration, and servicing experiences within the SMB segment. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participate in complex problem resolution for sales development.
  • Lead complex projects with diverse scope.
  • Determine methods and procedures for new assignments.
  • Implement initiatives resulting in global process improvements.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the sales development team.

Expected Qualifications:

  • 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

As a Developer Commercial Lead, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to engage with and nurture the UK developer community. You will work closely with internal stakeholders as well as external developers to create engaging educational materials and facilitate a collaborative dialogue. Your primary goal will be to enhance the developer experience, drive adoption of our products through strategic community engagement, and act as the voice of the developer.

Responsibilities

The Developer commercial manager role is a crucial role in advancing PayPal’s developers experiences and initiatives. This manager will develop and nurture the developers’ community in the UK and will be the face and voice of PayPal to our developers and merchants who are technical.

 

In this proactive and independent role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, influencing and aligning with high-level leadership, to achieve strategic objectives. Success requires a deep understanding of Developers, along with the ability to effectively engage with colleagues across the organization. Your efforts will be pivotal in putting in place processes, financial rewards mechanisms and providing feedback to our product teams in a way that will accelerate PayPal’s growth exponentially.

 

We are looking for someone who is organized and independent, a self-starter who loves to build things from scratch, as this is a completely new role, and who isn’t afraid of public speaking and can motivate a group of high energy people.

Your day-to-day:

  • Market scoping & building a strategy: segmentation, sizing the opportunity, and developing a plan to address various opportunities over time

  • Community building: building the book of Developers and System Integrators, initiating contact and nurturing these relationships

  • Developing rewards mechanisms to maintain relationships with developers

  • Community Engagement: community forums, planning, organizing, and participating in virtual and in-person events, including webinars, meetups, and hackathons, to connect with developers and share knowledge.

  • Developer Support: Regularly update and expand our knowledge base with solutions to common challenges, best practices, and FAQs.

  • Content Creation: Work with our developer documentation team and subject matter experts to create video and written tutorials to guide developers through the integration process and showcase advanced features.

  • Feedback Collection:

  • Advocacy and Evangelism:

  • Act as a liaison between developers and internal product teams, advocating for developer needs and influencing product enhancements.
  • Represent PayPal at external events and conferences to strengthen relationships with developers and showcase our commitment to the community.

What you need to bring:

  • Enthusiastic and proactive with a passion for fostering a collaborative developer community.

  • Ability to balance multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commercial acumen and the ability to develop commercial tactics and negotiate them with developers

  • Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends, ensuring that our developer community stays at the forefront of innovation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product development, engineering, marketing, and customer support.

  • Proven experience in a developer community management role or a similar position.

  • Experience with creating technical documentation, tutorials, and other educational materials.

  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts. Experience as a developer is preferred.

  • Familiarity with key programming languages.
