The Academic Education Director will report directly to the Chair / Program Director, and work closely with the medical director and the Assessment Director in the administration, evaluation, assessment and implementation of the didactic curriculum to meet ARC-PA Standards. (1 FTE)

Daily Operations

Teaching:
•    Developing, reviewing, and revising as necessary the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program
•    Selecting applicants for admission to the PA Program 
•    Providing Student Instruction 
•    Evaluating student performance
•    Academic counseling of students 
•    Assuring the availability of remedial instruction
•    Designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the didactic curriculum
•    Evaluating the program 
•    Performs other related duties as assigned.
Administrative:
•    Provides oversight of the didactic curriculum and coordination of the schedule with course directors in planning, sequencing, and course content for the didactic year
•    Curriculum development, assessment, mapping ad revision.
•    Develops and implements a continuous process of self-assessment that is consistent with the PA programs’ self-study plan, and that ensures the quality of the didactic curriculum in collaboration with the Chair / Program Director, the Office of Institutional Research, and Assessment Director. 
•    Collaborates with the Clinical Education Director to ensure integration of didactic and clinical curriculum 
•    Delivers curriculum content within the PA program 
•    Collaborates with the Institution’s Senior Administration, the Advisory Council, medical director, associate medical director, faculty, and staff in activities related to the didactic curriculum  
Academic Service & Research
•    Serves on PA Program Committees, Ad-hoc meetings, commencement, convocation,  and community service for the PA program  
Clinical:
•    Clinical Release for PA clinical practice for the maintenance of NCCP certification and state licensure, clinical development as faculty, and compliance with ARC-PA Standards    
 

Required Skills

•    Knowledge of and experience with PA or medical clinical education
•    Excellent oral, written and computer skills 
•    Knowledge of ARC-PA Standards
•    Knowledge of Curriculum and Course development
•    Ability to network and interact professionally with students, faculty and staff, clinical sites and preceptors 
•    Prior experience as an Academic Education Director preferred, but not required. 


Required Education and Experience

•    Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA program 
•    Relevant Master’s Degree from an accredited institution
•    Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
•    Tennessee Medical License or be eligible to apply for a Tennessee medical license
•    Experience in PA education preferred.
