Senior Vice President, Corporate Sales (Japanese Corporates), Global Transaction Banking

As a Senior Japanese Corporate Sales in Global Transaction Banking (GTB), this candidate will act as an individual contributor responsible for originating deals, developing, and managing a portfolio of Japanese corporate clients across Asia Pacific. This candidate will also serve as the GTB Japanese Corporates Champion in Asia, driving strategic planning, cross-border collaboration, and business growth for the Japanese Corporate client segment across the region. This role combines deep client engagement with strategic leadership acting as GTB advisor to strengthen Santander’s wallet share within the Japanese Corporate client in Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • GTB solutions advisor to Santander’s strategic clients of the Japanese Corporate portfolio. Leverage on his/her strong market knowledge to originate client opportunities within the region that fits GTB Asia’s strategy and business model.

  • Develop and build a strong client portfolio in Japanese corporate segment for their GTB related business in Asia. Proactively manage the portfolio for client activation, product penetration, client relationship and revenue up tiering to increase client stickiness with Santander Asia.

  • Deep knowledge in Japan’s key industries such as the value chain of technology data centre, renewable energy, auto, commodities, natural resources, etc. Strong relationships with and good understanding of the operations of strategic clients in the key industries are expected.

  • Fully client-focused, with the objective of maximizing Santander Asia’s wallet share by aligning clients’ priorities and being a GTB advisor. Responsible for originating and executing deals, with focus on mega deals, offering combined GTB solutions-including basic lending, documentary trade, working capital solutions, structured trade, cash deposits, and ECA-backed solutions is a plus.

  • Take lead and work with Corporate Sales in other APAC countries covering Japanese Corporates the strategic business planning for the Japanese Corporate portfolio of the APAC region and drive commercial activities.

  • Internal stakeholders’ management (e.g. Relationship Managers, Risks, Product Specialists) to ensure time to revenue.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in GTB or related areas, with a proven track record of extensive experience managing major Japanese corporate clients, maintaining direct access to key decision-makers at client headquarters in Japan and in the APAC region, and delivering strong sales results.

  • Comprehensive understanding of GTB products, particularly trade and cash; experience in structured trade and ECA-backed financing is highly preferred.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with full professional fluency in both English and Japanese (written and spoken).

  • Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams including Product Specialists, Global Product teams, GTB Sales, Risk, Legal, and Relationship Managers.

  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and resilient, with a proactive attitude toward achieving commercial targets. Strong sense of teamwork, collaboration, and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Willingness to travel for client development and business growth activities.
