Main Purpose and Accountability

The role will be an L4 Vice President level role, and will adopt specific line management responsibility and accountability for the following named departments:

  • Technology / Platforms / Markets Support

The role will sit within the Platforms Support team, under the ETP Technology pillar, and will be primarily responsible for providing desk-side support services to Global Markets Sales & Trading activities in EMEA.

Roles, Scope and Reporting Structure

  • Head of Technology EMEA
  • Head of Trading Platforms
  • Head of Platforms

Key Responsibilities

Specifically, the role will be accountable and responsible for taking appropriate ownership and action with respect to the MUFG’s Global Markets Support, including the following platforms:

  • ION
  • Tertiary eTrading Applications (Genesis, Droit, AlgoBox)
  • Bloomberg
  • Markets Engineering

The role will work alongside similarly aligned L4 application support teams to provide a blanket coverage of subject matter expertise for operational Global Markets platforms across EMEA.

Key Capability Requirements

Role Capability:

Evidence technical competency and subject matter expertise in one or more of the following platforms and specialist areas:

  • ION
  • Tertiary eTrading Applications (Genesis, Droit, AlgoBox)
  • Bloomberg
  • Markets Engineering
  • Support Team Leadership
  • Deskside Front Office Support

  • Build, strengthen and maintain new and existing relationships between the EMEA Markets desks and Technology support functions.
  • Operate in a Team Lead role within the Trading Platforms pillar, supporting Markets desks, with matrix management reporting line into the Global Head of Markets Support.
  • Act as a single point of contact for Markets support issues, liaising with Technology stakeholders to monitor, target and resolve critical Production issues.
  • Provide line management and leadership to a team of approximately 10 engineers and analysts in the EMEA Markets Support team.
  • Work in collaboration alongside global Markets Support teams across APAC, EMEA and AMERICAS.
  • Provide effective and appropriate change management against delivery of changes into the Production environment from the Markets Development teams
  • Define and deliver documentation, training, mentorship and information sharing across global peer group
  • Provide confident clear direction and leadership to your team in Incident & Problem Management
  • Articulate and implement the vision/strategy for the Trading Platforms department
  • Provide expertise in product level knowledge, including Derivatives, Repo, SBL and Fixed Income products
  • Implement a results driven approach to support, with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in both written and spoken mediums.
  • Evidence a proactive, motivated approach with the ability to operate with urgency and prioritise work accordingly
  • Provide strong decision making skills and the ability to demonstrate sound judgement
  • Ensure a structured and logical approach to team delivery with a focus on strong problem solving skills and creative, pragmatic and innovative approaches to Markets support.

Personnel Management Capability:

This role will assume authority and accountability in management of the following matters, appropriate for above departments, including:

  • Building (via recruitment, restructuring and internal development) a team of high-quality professionals that will achieve the objectives of the broader MUFG Group to leverage strategic advantages.
  • Ensuring that all staff in your remit are fully trained and understand what is required of them in order to do their jobs effectively, including ensuring that job descriptions, objectives, personal development plans and performance reviews are provided for all staff at least once a year in accordance with Human Resources requirements.
  • Continually monitoring team effectiveness and competency in order to meet the requirements of the relevant regulator’s training and competency regime, handling appropriately any grievance or disciplinary issues.
  • Ensuring that any responsibilities that you have delegated to other staff, including those in respect of regulatory obligations (where applicable), are appropriately apportioned and controlled. Ensure that the staff in question have a clear understanding of these duties so as to ensure that the business and affairs of the] function can be adequately monitored and controlled
  • Understand, promote and deliver MUFG’s Technology Strategy objectives to the teams under remit, to ensure all team personnel are aligned to the overall direction of the business and can work to effectively deliver efficient and effective platforms in support of the Strategy.

Stakeholder Management Capability:

Maintain, develop and enhance strong working relationships with business and Technology stakeholders, across the region and globally to share best practices, provide support and develop effective local policies and procedures appropriate to the Company, and working in support of the One MUFG and overall Group strategy.

Build, develop and maintain strong positive relationships between Markets Support team, desks and regional Development functions to ensure effective and timely escalation and resolution of critical issues for the desk are understood and resolved efficiently.

Role Accountability & Responsibility:

  • Delivering reliable, robust, sustainable platforms to assist traders and sales teams with Sales & Trading activity within the scope of Global Markets in EMEA.
  • Ensure effective and efficient deskside (and remote where appropriate) support coverage for London Sales & Trading activity for Markets platforms.
  • Measure and manage the key support levels through establishing, measuring and monitoring KPI targets and agreed service levels with the Global Markets teams.
  • Providing management oversight and point of immediate escalation to ensure the EMEA Sales and Trading teams are well supported.
  • Co-ordinating, planning and delivering changes to in-house, vendor solutions and third party components related to the Markets business.
