Job description
This role will establish and lead the Enterprise Digital and Technology (EDT) PMO Enablement function, making program and project management a competitive advantage by nurturing the talent, practices and community that lift delivery outcomes across the EDT portfolio and teams. This inspirational leader is a force multiplier who grows talent, elevates the practice and energizes the PM community. The role sets standards for, and designs and scales coaching, learning and knowledge systems that help PMs and PMOs deliver more reliably and predictably. This leader utilizes lean principles and design thinking to coach PMO teams to orchestrate outcomes and realize value for Stryker.


What you will do:

  • Establish, evolve and sustain a vibrant PMO community of practice with high engagement and measurable and meaningful knowledge sharing

  • Be an authoritative knowledge base that shortens time-to-confidence and impact for new talent and supporting current team in competency development. Partner with resource managers and utilize assessment tools to inform approach.

  • Ensure that the enterprise-wide PMO career pathway and titling is applied across federated EDT teams.

  • Partner with PMO leaders, HR, Transformation and Organizational Effectiveness teams to design learning journeys, upskilling opportunities and community mechanisms that scale globally.

  • Build and sustain PM knowledge base, including resources, methods, playbooks, best practices and connection points for PMs looking for support in competency areas.

  • Solicit feedback on PMO effectiveness across EDT and provide just-in-time coaching and create future-facing thematic lean improvement opportunities.

  • Provide coaching to PMOs and PMs across EDT to foster high performing teams that maximize impact and outcomes.

  • Design and implement learning pathways and upskilling plans that combine PMO Council standards, EDT requirements, innovative approaches utilizing AI and industry content.

  • Provide data insights for PMO leaders on measurable competencies, upskilling opportunities, readiness and development progress.

  • Sponsor PM spotlights, development opportunities across teams, mentorships, peer-to-peer coaching and internal mobility for growth.

  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of how knowledge is shared, with the goal of building our ability to operate efficiently and effectively while driving digital innovation, technology standards and simplification, regulatory compliance and enabling growth.

  • Celebrate achievements and communicate progress to maintain engagement and accountability.

  • Ensure expectations for external partners delivering PMO services are clear, consistent and measurable. Continually review vendor PMO practices and results to hold vendors accountable. Take action when necessary in cases of over- or under-performance.

  • Build and sustain effective stakeholder relationships at all levels. Develop stakeholder strategies for the effective management across range of expectations given the broad scope of this role.

  • Drive continuous improvement within the PMO function across EDT and create common objectives to drive relentless pursuit of evolution and growth.

  • Champions talent strategy in the function. Builds mutual trust and drives collaboration across teams. Leads a team of PMO professionals and fosters their development, capability to deliver business outcomes and enables their growth.


What you need:
• BS or equivalent and 10+ years of work experience

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):

  • PMI certification, or equivalent

  • Strong background in coaching and developing teams

  • Mastery of project management knowledge areas

  • Fluency across PMO, portfolio, program and project management with deep experience

  • Advanced skills in digital collaboration tools

  • Experience with agile ways of working and lean continuous improvement practices
