As a member of the WellStar Enterprise Support Team (WEST), you'll play a vital role in ensuring seamless staffing across WellStar facilities. This dynamic team serves as a contingency staffing solution, with the exciting opportunity to float to various units based on the greatest need. Unit assignments will be determined by WFE leadership, considering factors such as clinical expertise and skill mix.

All RNs are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, RNs uphold the voice of the patient and support system policies and service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Clinical Skills

  • Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practices to ensure individualized care.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills in complex patient situations.
  • Administer medications according to system policies.
  • Conduct required pre-procedure preparations and safety checks.
  • Demonstrate sterile technique and IV administration competence.
  • Collaborate with patients and significant others to focus on patient-centered care.

Quality and Patient Safety

  • Verify patient identity using two identifiers (e.g., armband, date of birth).
  • Ensure accuracy in patient records and clarify any unclear orders.
  • Complete pre-procedural verifications and uphold organizational policies, including TJC Patient Safety Goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain flexibility in work hours to meet department needs.
  • Complete all required competency assessments and mandatory education.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration to support a healthy work environment.
  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for nursing staff and students.
  • Communicate effectively and responsibly within the team.
  • Provide patient transportation and ensure comfort and privacy.
  • Answer departmental phone calls professionally.
  • Perform quality assurance functions as needed.
  • Keep BLS and NRP certifications current.
  • Participate in in-service training and staff meetings.
  • Adhere to Service Recovery and Customer Service Guidelines.
  • Conduct daily emergency checks.

Patient Education

  • Educate patients and their families on care processes and provide post-procedural home care instructions.

Required Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with national certification in a specialty (preferred) or
  • Diploma from an accredited nursing program (required).

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)

  • Registered Nurse (Single State) – Required
  • RN - Multi-state Compact – Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required

Required Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of current nursing experience in the specified area of practice – Required.

Required Minimum Skills

  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to utilize technology in clinical care.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies calmly.
  • Excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Practice nursing using evidence-based approaches and analytical skills.
