Job Description 

Paramed is excited to recruit for the following position(s) to make a meaningful impact to a new innovative service delivery for Palliative Patients in partnership with Chatham Kent OHT. 

 

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory assessments and management plans for patients with respiratory conditions that are diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses and will undergo thorough assessments to determine their palliative care requirements. Care will take place within a residential or institutional setting with referrals generated by a variety of sources including government agencies, employers, insurance companies or private payees.

What you’ll do:  

  • Provide comprehensive respiratory assessment and management plan for clients respiratory condition 

  • Provide ventilator management 

  • Provide tracheostomy tube management 

  • Provide oxygen therapy assessment and management 

  • Develop and provide client and family teaching plans as appropriate to the individual patient 

  • Provide supervision and education 

  • Maintains confidentiality and builds a respectful working environment 

  • Demonstrate the ability to lift and position patients and related equipment 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

What you bring:  

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in health science or related field preferred 

  • Graduate of a recognized Respiratory Therapy program 

  • Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario 

  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, required 

  • Working knowledge of applicable legislation including Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Healthcare Consent Act and others 

  • Current certification (within the past 12 months) of First Aid, CPR completed within Canada 

  • Able to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Position Screening (VPS)
