Your Role and Responsibilities

We are now looking for a new Service Technical Support Specialist to join our team in ABB Electrification Services in Vaasa, Finland. In this role you will be providing technical support and solving problems in your expertise area via remote or on-site service as well as providing technical consultation on Service solutions for management and customers. Additionally, you will be determining effective Service applications, equipment, and methods to develop, market, or manufacture new Service offerings to respond to customer requirements cost-effectively.

You will also be collaborating closely with sales and product management on customer needs and technical feasibility, including identifying new sales opportunities, proactively communicating to all stakeholders, ensuring customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for service growth.

Please note that this role also requires some travel, approximately 50 days a year.

You will mainly be responsible for:

  • Helping to specify products and contents based on the existing devices and applications at customers’ sites 
  • Participating in customer meetings as an engineering specialist and technical support 
  • Participating in quotation chains from own engineering content point of view and support ing sales personnel 
  • Specifying and preparing relay configurations, defining setting values according to application
  • Supporting remote modifications and upgrades as a factory contact point 
  • Standardizing delivered projects for our solution portfolio for further utilization 

Qualifications for the Role

  • BSc or MSc degree from a related field, such as electrical engineering
  • Strong knowledge of distribution automation and relay protection applications
  • Excellent knowledge of protection relays and other digital substation products
  • Strong experience in using relay engineering tools and related environments
  • Fluent in written and spoken Finnish and English, further language skills are an advantage
