Field Service Engineers travel to customer locations or are assigned to an individual customer site. They are responsible for all on-site installations, startup, diagnosis, service and repair of Axcelis'' equipment. They function as Axcelis'' liaison with customers on administrative, technical, operational, and maintenance issues. They also assist our customers by selling and installing equipment modifications, upgrades and service contracts that enhance the operation of Axcelis'' products.

With close supervision, executes activities concerned with Aftermarket business including but not limited to installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment and parts, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties:

  • Travel to customer locations or be assigned to an individual customer site. 
  • Under supervision, responsible for all on-site installations, startup, diagnosis, service and repair of Axcelis equipment.
  • Function as Axcelis’ liaison with customers on administrative, technical, operational, and maintenance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and mechanical problems.   
  • Ensure customer's facility and all support equipment is ready and available for installation of equipment.
  • Coordinate and perform assembly rebuilds and preventive maintenance on all Axcelis products.
  • Interface with technical support, design engineering, and manufacturing engineering on tooling, preventive maintenance procedures, design, and reliability.
  • Complete field service reports after each assignment using Axcelis Business System (FSO and Insight).
  • Work from engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals during the installation, debugging, and repair of Axcelis equipment.
  • Follow all established cleanroom cleanliness requirements, procedures, and protocols.

Required Skills:

Ability to: Interface with multiple departments to ensure consistent and effective communication.  Build relationships with customers/vendors/department contacts.  Apply ingenuity and logic to resolve complex electronic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical assembly, drive mechanism, and software systems problems for all Axcelis products.  Maintain technical proficiency on semiconductor equipment.  Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English sufficiently well to perform job functions.  Percent of travel required up to 80%

Skilled at: Customer service, Microsoft Products and general computer skills, Enterprise software.

Knowledge of: Customer Focus, Semiconductor Equipment/parts, Axcelis Specific policies (T&E).
