As a Cashier in Akron General's cafeteria, you will be responsible for proper cash handling, operating a cash register and counting money at the end of your shift.

A caregiver in this position works 11:00am—7:30pm or 5:30am—2:00pm. 

Responsibilities:

  • Operates cash register ensuring accuracy in cash collection and charges for non-paid meals.
  • Checks menus, portions and prices of food items to be sold.
  • Operates cash register in a pleasant and courteous manner, ensuring a smooth quick customer flow, and projects a positive image and customer satisfaction is maximized.
  • Reports any cash discrepancies, theft, or customer fraud to immediate supervisor.
  • Reports any failure or malfunction of equipment or utility, i.e., gas, electrical, water or steam to a supervisor immediately.
  • Performs other similar or lesser skills as assigned by a member of the management or supervisory staff.
  • Completes related job tasks in a timely manner as outlined in the job outline developed for cashier position.
  • Adheres to cash handling procedures and guidelines listed in cashier policy.
  • Hours, shifts and days off will vary in accordance with the assigned position and flexibility is required.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:

  • High school graduate or the equivalent.


Certifications:

  • None required


Complexity of Work:

  • Ability to read and write and follow written and oral instructions; knowledge of simple mathematics with the ability to make change from a cash register.


Work Experience:

  • Demonstrated interest aptitude and ability to perform routine repetitive tasks on a continuous basis; good numeric aptitude; the qualifications and ability to perform Food Service Aide duties.
  • Ability to operate a cash register.
