Role Definition: Emissions Certification

This position is for a certification specialist team leader with responsibility for Rail, Spark Ignited and Dual Fuel products, working closely with Caterpillar's subsidiary Progress Rail which includes the iconic EMD brand and Caterpillar's Large Power Systems Division.  The certification team lead works with the product development teams to ensure new products meets the emissions regulatory requirements for the intended sales region. It also coordinates with process partners to compile the required info to obtain certification, including documents such as Auxiliary Emission Control Device descriptions (AECDs), and provides technical consultation as product group questions may arise. This specialist team lead role has responsibility for supporting emissions certification throughout the world as well as improving/creating guidance documents and standard work for certification.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and stay current on product regulatory requirements, and related technology requirements, and understand application of same to Caterpillar products.

  • Follow and utilize established processes and tools to collect, assess, and manage information in support of product certification and compliance.

  • Continuously improve processes within the emissions certification team to ensure robust compliance of our products, aligning IPSD-M and IPSD-L/LPSD and Progress Rail processes where possible.

  • Support product development programs through VoR (Voice of Regulator) processes to ensure that emissions certification requirements are identified early in the program.

  • Collaborate with product groups, design control and operations to ensure the development, validation and production of product that meets applicable product regulatory requirements.

  • Requires knowledge of engine emissions regulations

  • Requires extensive knowledge of diesel engines and their associated emissions control systems including aftertreatment.

Degree Requirement

Degree required in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
