As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will help in the manufacturing process of flight vehicle components for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of aerospace manufacturing while working with the team to keep the shop functioning at a high level. This in turn will keep the team producing accurate components enabling first article success on tight tolerance high value parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Review planning/engineering, work instructions and tooling to verify appropriate work process and quality requirements before starting job.
  • Perform accurate and timely completion of all job order documentation and associated paperwork, part counts, tie-in information, etc.
  • Deburr, polish, grind, sand, and clean parts.
  • Provide other help around shop, such as sweeping/mopping, taking out trash, etc.
  • Shop Maintenance Duties including checking coolant levels, empty chip barrels from machines.
  • Utilize hand tools and small power tools, safely remove burrs and create edge breaks.
  • Assist in using equipment such as; Band Saws, Drill Press, Forklift etc.
  • Perform general machine maintenance, such as coolant maintenance, adding oil, clearing of chips, etc.
  • Sufficient shop-mathematical-ability to take measurements, cut required dimensions, etc. Strong "hands on" ability required.
  • Work with team members and others using Lean/Continuous Improvement processes to develop and apply process improvements that positively impact operations by reducing waste, reducing safety risks and improving quality.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by Supervision/Management including but not limited to assisting non-production plant and administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Experience with pencil, orbital and angle grinders.
  • Able to perform mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction and decimals).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, drawings, internal and customer specifications, manuals, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to utilize interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, and dealing with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
  • Basic knowledge of inspection equipment such as; calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges.
  • Familiar with use of personal computers.
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Desired:

  • Experience deburring.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to change (positive or negative).
  • Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations.

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
