A Brief Overview
Experienced life and health underwriter with expertise in underwriting systems, responsible for developing and implementing innovative digital underwriting solutions. This role focuses on optimizing client operations, collaborating across functions, and supporting business projects to ensure RGA’s industry leadership, profitability, and strong risk management.
What you will do
Work with the manager to conduct market and client gap analyses, identifying solutions and business opportunities, and translating them into underwriting solutions that drive profitable and sustainable growth for RGA and its clients
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, test, pilot, launch, and maintain underwriting technology solutions. Design and validate underwriting rules aligned with RGA’s underwriting philosophy and Global Underwriting Manual (GUM), and embed solutions into client operational processes
Work with local, regional, and global RGA experts to evaluate, refine, and obtain approval for new underwriting solutions
Participate in client engagements to present underwriting solutions, address concerns, resolve issues, and negotiate optimal outcomes, while building strong relationships with underwriting, medical, and operations teams at client organizations
Deliver efficient, professional service to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timelines and service quality standards are met
Design and execute underwriting and claims rule development and testing, ensuring alignment with RGA’s risk appetite and best practices
Perform end‑to‑end user acceptance testing across all key scenarios to ensure solution accuracy, efficiency, and readiness for deployment
Performing additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business qualification, with 5+ years of case underwriting experience, with hands‑on expertise in medical and other living benefit products
3+ years of experience working with underwriting systems, including rule development and system testing
Creative, agile, and open‑minded, with a strong ability to take on challenges and deliver high‑quality solutions within agreed timelines
Good knowledge of life and health insurance processes Required
Proven ability to multitask and prioritize effectively, with a balanced combination of technical expertise and commercial acumen; able to perform well under pressure
High integrity and accountability, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, supported by sound judgment and strong stakeholder management
Proficiency in written and spoken English
