Counterparty Risk Management Vice President

AQR Capital Management is looking for a highly motivated and hard-working team member in Counterparty Risk who will report to the head of Counterparty Risk Management. Primary duties will include assessing the creditworthiness of the firm’s trading counterparties comprised of banks, broker-dealers and central clearing counterparties, monitoring the firm’s counterparty exposures, and facilitating the onboarding and maintenance of our funds and accounts at trading and financing counterparties.    

Your Rol

  • Perform ongoing counterparty credit analysis on universe of banks and broker-dealers and analyze risk to central clearing counterparties and related exchanges.
  • Monitor the ongoing creditworthiness of the counterparty base through daily credit quality and exposure threshold tracking.
  • Summarize credit onboarding materials on our funds and accounts (including fund profile, trading strategy, leverage, cash usage, investor base, redemption terms) for the use by credit officers at trading counterparties.
  • Serve as point person for credit officers on ongoing transparency on our firm, funds and managed accounts.
  • Work closely with the firm’s trading documentation to help negotiate and track credit terms in trading agreements.
  • Work with the offshore support team to design workflows and oversee client and counterparty reporting processes.
  • Assist with responsibilities of the department as needed, including day-to-day management of the firm’s counterparty relationships, responding to client due diligence questions, and maintaining department databases.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of credit risk management experience with a focus on assessing the creditworthiness of financial institutions, including banks, broker-dealers, and central clearing counterparties.
  • Deep understanding of credit risk systems, credit risk measurement methodologies and credit scoring models.
  • Familiarity with hedge fund investment strategies and the various financial products traded by hedge funds including swaps, foreign exchange, futures, equities, fixed income and prime brokerage operations along with associated trading documentation.
  • Strong oral and written skills with the ability to comfortably and effectively interact with principals, clients, sell side credit officers, traders and attorneys.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL.

The salary range for this role is expected to be $160,000 - $180,000.  This is the range that we in good faith believe is accurate for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, depending upon factors such as skills, experience, location, or other business and organizational needs.  This wage range may also be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
