TITLE:                   Regional Manufacturing Training & Development Specialist

LOCATION:          Argo Plant. Bedforpark, Il.

FOCUS: Process Engineering & Technical Skills

REPORTS TO: Directly reports to the Manager of Operations Training for US &Canada, with a dotted line to the HR Manager at one or more supported sites.

SUPERVISION:

This is an individual contributor role with an emphasis on influencing key stakeholders at both the regional/corporate and plant levels.

As a Training & Development Specialist, you will be part of a great HR team and will be responsible for analyzing, interpreting results, and developing recommendations that support the development and maintenance of effective HR programs aligned with the organization's strategy. A job's impact and complexity are determined by whether the job is responsible for developing, managing, conducting, or performing the above-mentioned processes.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Collaboration & Partnership:

  • Partner with EHS&S and Quality Departments to identify, assign, and track mandatory training needed to meet governmental compliance and audit requirements.
  • Partner with Department Leadership to track training job qualification status for each employee and monitor versatility trends across departments.
  • Collaborate with Operations to develop and curate digital job assessments to qualify employees and gauge job proficiency.
  • Partner with department leadership to ensure the review and curation of Job Skills Qualification Programs.
  • Work with local HR to monitor upcoming retirements and develop systems/programs to capture legacy knowledge.

Training Management & Development:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain annual training calendars for Engineering, Reliability, and Operations Technical Skills Training Programs to enhance proficiency levels.
  • Manage and maintain the onboarding "Argo University Program" (Introduction to Manufacturing) for new hires.
  • Develop and maintain technical skills matrices and career paths for Engineering and Operations.

Data Analysis & Risk Management:

  • Regularly monitor and analyze key data points to proactively identify training and coverage risks across the plant.
  • Analyze field and digital assessment data to identify training gaps and address them through targeted programs.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to innovate and improve technical skills training by exploring new technologies and methods to stay competitive in the industry.

Budgeting & Oversight:

  • Assist with managing the training budget for process and technical skills training.
  • Serve as a dotted line to hourly training OAs, ensuring standardization and execution within each department.

Communication & Reporting:

  • Attend meetings to communicate training statuses, programs, and gaps to Plant Leadership.

Your profile needs these qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, HR, OD, Psychology, Engineering, Operations, or similar related discipline.
  • Three to five years of progressive experience as a learning & development practitioner.
  • Three years of progressive experience in instructional design and learning program management.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing training needs, identifying performance gaps and root causes, and recommending solutions to achieve desired performance outcomes.
  • Demonstrated technical competence through training and/or experience to provide perspective about prerequisites and adjacent projects/experiences to enhance the learning objectives.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to facilitate organizing and managing multiple priorities and/or projects.
  • Experience coordinating learning and development activities throughout the organization; perform training administrative tasks in a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, schedule, and successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in all Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in collaboration and virtual meeting tools (Zoom, Teams, On24, etc.)

  • Proven track record of building and implementing high-quality development strategies and solutions, working across organizational boundaries where needed.
  • Experience consulting with clients to determine needs, perceived roadblocks, business unit culture, and work environment issues.
