An overview of this role

As a Manager, International Accounting, you will play a vital role in the company leading and executing statutory accounting and legal compliance for GitLab EMEA legal entities. Key business partners you will lean on will be team members from Tax, Legal, and Treasury organizations in addition to managing local accounting service providers. The international team will look to you for efficiency recommendations,  implement best practice, and identify processes which will foster scale within our organization. In this leadership position, you will be responsible for developing and mentoring your team, taking ownership over key aspects of statutory compliance, while providing business insights into our financial results.

What You’ll Do  

  • Responsible for all aspects of accounting for our international subsidiaries, intercompany transactions and consolidations.
  • Work with internal legal, business professionals, and external accounting service providers to support our tax strategy.
  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives within Financial Close, Consolidation and Reporting areas and provide recommendations based on Financial Close & Consolidations leading practices.
  • Implement new accounting policies and ensures those policies are communicated to team as well as the business.
  • Backup resource for monthly financial statement consolidation process (including foreign currency re-measurement, translation and allocations, etc).
  • Collect business requirements and apply financial concepts to translate them into solution design and proposes recommendations for changes and improvements to accounting policies/procedures.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and reporting of financial information and ensuring that information adheres to GAAP and internal company policies.
  • Close the books under generally accepted accounting principles, performing accounting research, preparing/reviewing SEC financial reporting, developing audit procedures and controls.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and quarterly management slide deck.
  • Guide and control the teams’ general accounting activities, including recording company transactions, classifications, and reconciliation of account balances in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Work with FP&A on planning/reviewing all variances on the international entities as well as assisting FP&A for future needs/planning on each of the subsidiaries.
  • Work with internal and external audit as needed.
  • Mentor, guide, and develop employees through orientation, training, establishment of goals, communication of policies and rules, and constructive discipline.

What You’ll Bring 

  • 7+ years of progressive growth in financial management roles, with 3+ years leading and managing an international finance/finance operations team at a fast-growing high technology company.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite is preferred.
  • CPA and/or big 4 public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Experience with SaaS-based solutions.
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Strong knowledge of operational and financial controls, including the ability to assess, develop and implement.
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use GitLab.
