The Manager, Traceability will play a crucial role in ensuring the transparency and sustainability of our supply chain. The primary responsibility will be to trace raw materials used in our formulas back to their respective fields or lands, assessing their impact and ensuring compliance with ethical and environmental standards. This position requires a background in chemistry and expertise in traceability systems.

The Manager, Traceability reports to the Director of Sustainability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement traceability systems to track the origin of raw materials used in cosmetics formulations and packaging.
  • Work closely with Contract Manufacturers, Packaging Suppliers and Raw Material Suppliers to gather information on the sourcing and production methods of raw materials.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to evaluate the environmental and social impact of raw material sourcing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate traceability data into product and packaging development processes and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of traceability information for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Stay updated on regulatory requirements and industry standards related to supply chain transparency and sustainability; partner with Regulatory team to ensure compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in traceability practices and drive initiatives to enhance sustainability across the supply chain.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to promote transparency and accountability in sourcing practices.
  • Create close and effective cross-functional relationships with Regulatory, Product Development, Procurement and relevant partners at L’Occitane Group from Sustainability, Development and Procurement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biology or related science; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years proven experience in traceability management or supply chain sustainability, preferably in the cosmetics industry.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Knowledge of chemical compositions and properties of cosmetic raw materials.
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and standards such as Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, or RSPO.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data management tools and software for traceability tracking and reporting.
  • Commitment to ethical sourcing practices and environmental stewardship.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions, to work independently, and to take initiative when appropriate.
  • Open to constructive feedback and revisions on work
  • Flexible on work responsibilities and priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Goal-oriented with a positive “can do” attitude
  • Must be able to come into the New York office (midtown Manhattan) at least once per week
  • Must be able to travel approximately once per month

Salary Range
$115,000$125,000 USD

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
