We are seeking a public policy and government relations expert who can lead the development, planning and delivery of public policy and stakeholder engagement initiatives to support Levi Strauss & Co.'s business and strengthen company's reputation. The Corporate Affairs team is responsible for shaping and protecting Levi Strauss & Co.'s reputation as one of the apparel industry's top-performing, most socially responsible and values-led global brands. We are looking for an accomplished government affairs leader to join our Corporate Affairs team as the Director of Policy and Advocacy.

Reporting into the VP of Corporate Affairs, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for public policy advocacy across a number of highly visible and business critical areas for the company. We are looking for someone who will develop and cultivate deep relationships with external stakeholders (policymakers, nonprofit partners, trade associations) to achieve public policy and government relations objectives. You must have the proven ability to effectively work with and develop trusted relationships with business partners at all levels of the company as you will work directly with senior executives, including our CEO, to advise on business and advocacy priorities. You will be asked to bring new ideas to the table, lead projects and participate in cross-functional teams.

About the Job

  • Design and execute advocacy strategies for global government relations strategic plan for legislative and regulatory issues at the international, federal, state and local levels
  • Work internally with business leaders to shape LS&Co.'s public policy priorities and advocacy plans to advance business objectives
  • Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with U.S. and government officials globally, government agencies, relevant non-profit organizations, and business and interest groups, serving as a strong company advocate
  • Advance LS&Co.'s public policy priorities, focusing on the areas of trade, tax, sustainability, civic engagement, and social policies
  • Develop the strategies and support the Board, C-suite executives and brand leaders to appropriately engage government officials and support public policy initiatives
  • Deliver a return to the company's business growth and corporate reputation through its government relations outreach
  • Manage one team member aligning with Levi's values and leadership philosophy

About You

  • Bachelor's degree required and an advanced degree in international relations, political science and/or international economics preferred.
  • 8+ years experience in the public and/or private sector working on government affairs and public policy initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leader level knowledge, skills, and expertise in the areas of government affairs, public policy, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Create, influence, and translate public policy strategies based on insights, research, and data and planning. Clear understanding of external stakeholder engagement strategies. Strong project management knowledge.
  • Develop accurate conclusions based on context, facts, experience, stakeholder needs. Makes tough decisions thoughtfully.
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills with a strong subject matter expertise in social and environmental sustainability public policy and stakeholder engagement at all of levels of LS&Co. organization and our external organizations.
  • Demonstrated track record in evaluating and providing direction in developing clear, credible, innovative and appropriate communication.
  • Strong ability to build and strengthen critical relationships with key external stakeholders and with the insights and expertise to know if/when and how to engage

This is a remote eligible role located in Washington DC. The expected starting salary range for this role is $159,000 - $233,200 per year. We may pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount an employee will earn within the salary range will be based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, performance and our needs.
