Job Description

Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. (ACT), a Fortune 200 global leader in convenience and mobility, operates across 31 countries and territories. The Data Specialist will be a key contributor within the Global Payment Operations team, responsible for delivering data-driven insights across payment transactions to improve performance, reduce costs, and mitigate risks.

About the role

The primary responsibilities will be exception reporting, anomaly detection, transaction monitoring, and cost optimization opportunities across sites and payment streams (fuel, EV, carwash, QSR, and self-checkout). The analyst will transform large datasets into actionable insights, enabling proactive decision-making and operational efficiency. Other responsibilities will be to help automate this process and apply AI analytics. Secondary responsibilities will include data gathering, analytics, trending, interpreting, and reporting the results for all varieties of the topic within the payments ecosystem.

Roles & Responsibilities

Analytics & Strategy

  • Analyze large-scale structured data; develop deep-dive analyses

  • Organize a large amount of data

  • Develop and manage exception reporting to identify transaction failures, declines, and site-level issues

  • Identify and drive cost optimization opportunities across sites, payment flows, and processing fees

  • Detect anomalies and unusual patterns in transactions, highlighting risks and inefficiencies

Operational Excellence

  • Partner with respective team(s) to build, design, maintain, and automated dashboards and reporting

Stakeholder Management

  • Working collaboratively across multiple sets of stakeholders—internal (Accounting, Retail Systems, D&A groups, etc.) and external (Issuers, Payment Brands, Processors, etc.)

  • Articulate work results to management

Job Requirements

Education and Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a background with history of data analysis, or equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of experience in payment and transaction analytics, exception reporting, financial or operational data analysis, and working with large transactional datasets to generate actionable business insights.
