What You Will Do:

Engineering Product Integrity has an opening for a System Safety and Reliability Engineer to work on the next generation of Pratt & Whitney military aircraft engines. This engineering position will conduct efforts to analyze the system design and establish requirements that drive safety and reliability into the design to ensure the safety of P&W products is world class. The Safety and Reliability Engineer will be responsible for technical development of analysis demonstrating the system design meets safety and reliability requirements and serves as evidence for certification and/or acceptance by the regulator or acquiring authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineers throughout the organization and evaluate systems interactions across the entire propulsion system, to ensure designs incorporate the safety features required to enable certification. 

  • Develop high quality reliability and safety artifacts such as FMECA , Reliability and Safety Metric Prediction Models, Fault Tree Analysis and Hazard Analysis.

  • Contribute to reliability and safety design requirements based on derivation of the customer specification, creating reliability, maintainability/human factors, and safety design assessment artifacts in accordance with engineering standard work.

  • Support integration activities and reviews with internal and external customers, and air system contractors and certification authorities.

  • Support P&W Integrated Product Teams, Chief Engineer, Airframe manufacturers, Suppliers, and Customers in reviewing, assessing, and influencing engine designs to optimize safety-related metrics and assure safety certification requirements (Mil-Hdbk-516C and Mil-Std-882) are met.

  • Develop or enhance Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools used to execute FMECA, Reliability Metric Prediction, and Hazard Analysis.

  • Collaborate with Model Based Enterprise (MBE) team to integrate discipline tools across the organization.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).

  • Experience utilizing Cameo or other Systems Modeling Language.

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering or 3+ years with an advanced degree.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position will require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Professional experience in engineering, related discipline, military aircraft and/or engine engineering processes.

  • Experience using or developing reliability tools and processes such as Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) or Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (specifically Excel) and electronic databases to perform quantitative reliability and safety analysis.

  • Good written and oral presentation skills. Confident speaking to small groups in person or via electronic media.

  • The ability to operate independently and take the initiative with only the leader’s intent to guide actions.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
