Job Title:

Clinical Informatics Pharmacist - Automation and Narcotic Support - Full-Time

Job Summary:

Provides clinical leadership on complex implementation projects. May act as an advisor to functional areas looking to employ software to meet mission critical objectives and optimize care delivery processes. The CI Pharmacist specializes in the medication process, from ordering to administration and billing, and is responsible for effective process design and development, and implementation of the relative aspects of the electronic medical record and clinical decision support. This role will support the clinical application teams, physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other clinicians. The CI Pharmacist will work closely with pharmacy leadership and other epic team members up to and including the CMIO to clarify and prioritize requests, design workflows and execute change while furthering adoption of best practices with the Enterprise Health Information System, Epic.

Education & Experience

Pharm D or RPH from an accredited School of Pharmacy and at least 2 (two) years of experience in Pharmacy and Computer Applications of Pharmacy Practice, to include implementation and/or development of new computer systems, providing staff education and oversight of Information Systems, Clinical Pharmacy, Project Management and Patient Safety Experience. Experience may not substitute for education.  
 

Preferred: PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Informatics. Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record.

Completion of a pre-employment drug screen required.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:  Licensed as a Pharmacist in Mississippi or eligible, and in possession of a Mississippi controlled substance license or eligible. Must be licensed in Mississippi prior to hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of Computer systems, Equipment, and Applications. Knowledge of Medical Informatics. Knowledge of trends/developments in area of expertise. Ability to evaluate and interpret end user requirements and to develop appropriate systems and/or applications solutions. Ability to plan, design, coordinate implementation, train, test, and modify complex systems and subsystems. Ability to train, supervise and motivate employees in a matrix environment. Presentation skills, proven effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the planning, development and implementation of clinical software and decision support tools. Collaborates in the development and implementation of long range plans, establishment of priorities, identification of requirements, and training of users.
  • Works collaboratively with clinical and technical staff to maximize the effectiveness of decision support rules.
  • Active practice in clinical pharmacy up to 20% of time; maintains clinical licensure.
  • Responsible for pharmacy specific systems and applications with setup, planning, ongoing maintenance and integration with other clinical applications.
  • Participates and acts as liaison with other clinical and analytical teams as needed to optimize pharmacy related systems. Assists with all projects involving pharmacy automation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of technology within healthcare environment and stays engaged with industry trends through vendor contracts, value analysis, etc.
  • Participates on various committees as required. Analyzes and reports clinical and financial data within pharmacy systems.
