Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Manufacturing Engineering within the Production, Engineering, and Operations (PE&O) organization. This leadership role is located in Moss Point, Mississippi.

This position is on-site in Moss Point, MS and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role.

This manager will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineer’s with a focus on F-35 and Hale new production line. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Manufacturing Engineers have the tools to perform their tasks, along with ensuring execution to program requirements. Assignments and metrics assigned to track team’s progress will be crucial to meet performance objectives. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 7-10 Manufacturing Engineers and tool crib attendants.
  • Overseeing the creation of new and modification of existing assembly/ manufacturing instructions with necessary operations to support build sequence, while also including specifications/quality requirements and maintaining a bill of material (BOM).
  • Provide guidance to Design Engineering during drawing reviews regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques; and to identify any manufacturability challenges or changes required ahead of drawing release.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations and engineering specifications. You will also drive the team to support the production floor in a liaison role. These activities include answering assist calls from technicians, processing of MRB tags, performing root cause corrective action, and be responsive to keep production moving.
  • Overseeing of receipt, storage, and issuing of tools and supplies in the Standard Tooling Services Tool Crib and ensuring that measuring devices are periodically calibrated.
  • Investigate and initiate corrective action to ensure product quality; resolve quality issues that arise during the build process to ensure all parts conform to the design configuration.
  • Develop tooling / fixtures to conduct the operations steps and to serve as manufacturing aids for technicians.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Responsible for Manufacturing Engineers providing technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems. 
  • They are problem solvers who have the ability to provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives. 
  • The ideal candidate will be able to work individually as well as collaborate with a diverse group of individuals, work tactically, but with an eye towards future strategy, and exhibit solid communication skills while acting as the technical representative voice for Operations.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and earned value meets program performance expectations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in engineering OR a Masters Degree and 2 years of experience in engineering.
  • 2 years of leading teams or projects.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel Domestically 10% and/or extended work week as business requires.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher in a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) Degree
  • 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Experience in the F-35 and/or Hale aircraft platforms
  • 5 years of leadership/management experience
  • Experience working with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) & SAP business systems
  • Experience in CATIA and TeamCenter.
  • Experience in Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience with Systems Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance, or Flight Test Support
  • Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience
  • Experience with developing enhancement processes that improve production shop floor efficiencies.
  • Experience with reviewing engineering models during concept design phase to correlate the manufacturing desired final engineering model
  • Experience in electrical back shop, cable harness fabrication and testing

Salary Range: $108,400.00 - $162,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
