We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst or Sr Actuarial Analyst to join our dynamic group. This role will be responsible for executing a variety of reserving and claims analytics functions in support of The Hartford’s nearly $1B countrywide Auto Physical Damage portfolio.

This role will play an important part in completing core reserving deliverables as well as developing and communicating diagnostic capabilities that inform and influence key business decisions. This role will work closely with other Actuarial partners as well as Claims Performance Analytics, Product, and Data Science.
Responsibilities:
Execute and deliver Auto materials and commentary for the Personal Insurance Monthly Business Review
Perform quarterly loss and ALAE reserve analysis for Auto Physical Damage
Develop, maintain, and summarize Auto Physical Damage diagnostics
Monitor frequency and severity emergence across Auto coverages
Maintain and enhance APD reserving methodologies in ResQ
Monitor and communicate claim intake across Auto coverages
Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field preferred)
Actuarial Analyst: 1+ P&C actuarial exams required
Senior Actuarial Analyst: 4+ P&C actuarial exams required, 2+ years of experience
Prior P&C insurance experience preferred
Strong Excel skills required. R, Python, SQL, or other coding experience desirable
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve complex issues
Proactivity in identifying and implementing process improvements
Team player adept at building trusting, collaborative, and effective partnerships
Accomplished in independent problem-solving and troubleshooting
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to dynamic priorities
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Location:
This role is based in Hartford and will have a hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$73,840 - $110,760The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
