We are looking for a self-motivated Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our talented team developing cutting-edge technology and products for optical communications, industrial and consumer applications. You will be part of a collaborative and diverse team that is continuously learning and improving while they develop the next generation of industry leading products.

What You’ll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Lumentum’s products meet/exceed customer/industry requirements for product reliability and durability.
  • Perform qualification testing to evaluate the reliability and performance of new and existing product designs.
  • Perform testing to evaluate the suitability of sub-components and packaging materials.
  • Apply engineering principles to develop and optimize mechanical and electrical test jigs.
  • Construct electro-optical measurement stations to detect performance changes.
  • Perform measurements.
  • Maintain equipment repair and calibration records.
  • Plan / procure consumable materials and critical spare parts. 
  • Schedule equipment maintenance.
  • Adhere to budget.
  • Maintain Lab certifications. Participate in annual Lab ISO Audit.

What We’re Looking For

  • A Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Technician Program.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working in the field of electronics, electromechanical or mechanical disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing lab or test lab.
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical background (practical knowledge)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Possess strong analytical, logical, mathematical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Can work independently but also can collaborate with others in team environment.
  • Troubleshooting of electronics, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Enjoy working on multidisciplinary projects
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and documentation skills required
  • Experience in procurement of capital and critical spare parts would be an asset.

Additional Assets:

  • Experience with electro-optical measurements and measurement equipment.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications hardware qualification and test standards.
  • Experience with environmental and mechanical testing, including set-up/operation of environmental chambers and vibration machines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and or mechanical test equipment.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance related to environmental test chambers and vibration test systems.
  • Experience with test automation software such as LabVIEW.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices.
