Director of Business Development, Aviation
Location: Remote (ideally East Coast USA) with expectation of approximately 50% travel to East Coast customer sites.

The Challenge:
As a Director of Business Development for the Airborne applications within Curtiss-Wright, you will support across a number of business units of Defense Solutions. You are empowered to expand our commercially qualified aviation Flight Recorders, Air Data Computers and Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) into both DoD and Commercial/OEM Market spaces.
Your Expertise:
Have a working knowledge of the aerospace & defense industry relating to airborne applications, including working from initial program/product concept through development and on through production.
Access a network of international contacts, including senior staff and execs of aircraft manufacturers, carriers, systems providers and DoD relationships.
Be comfortable in discussing airborne applications with senior program team members, business unit leaders and corporate executives.
Previous campaign success at Airbus, Boeing, Bell Flight, Sikorsky and other OEMs is extremely valuable.
Be self-motivated and comfortable working in a goal-oriented environment.
Strong organizational skills, able to effectively deal with multiple meetings, tasks, and deadlines.
Have strong communication skills, able to effectively communicate with customers and contacts of all backgrounds and educational levels. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
Be able to formulate capture plans and lead capture efforts of multimillion dollar pursuits.
Be practiced in researching, planning, and implementing new target market initiatives.
Pursuing leads and moving them through the sales cycle, working with CWDS Sales team
Developing concepts, ideas, quotes and proposals for prospective clients
Attending conferences and industry events; Represent CWDS for the purposes of identifying new opportunities for the CWDS division products and services.
The Ideal Candidate
Active Pilot in Command (PIC) experience
Previous Sales/BD role for a comparable firm
Military Leadership experience with extensive DoD relationships and pedigree
SE USA based with ability to travel 30%-40% of the year
Ability to set up demonstrations, present, and occasionally lift up to 50-70 lbs
Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain
Aerospace education (formal USAF/USN Pilot Training preferred)
