Ensures an understanding of the patient’s condition to aid in the diagnostic procedure and management.
B. Vision Testing and Refraction
Performs accurate visual acuity, subjective and objective refraction, and other procedures such as keratometry, lensometry, trial fitting, and cycloplegic refraction.
Correlates clinical findings and determines appropriate optical prescriptions to correct, rehabilitate, or aid a patient's visual problems.
Determines the need for cycloplegic refraction and whether the needed relaxation of accommodation is attained when performing cyclo-refraction.
C. Binocular Vision Testing
Performs accurately the tests for accommodation and convergence function, cover test and ocular motility, and stereo acuity testing.
D. Pupil Dilation, Constriction, and Cycloplegic Refraction
Uses appropriate diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to dilate and/or paralyze accommodation whenever required and observes proper instillation of medicines to ensure maximum effectiveness and minimize risk.
Provides appropriate instructions and expectations to patients regarding the expected symptoms when using Ophthalmic Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents (DPAs).
Determines if there are contraindications in using Ophthalmic Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents (DPAs).
II. DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES
A. Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Cataract Screening
Performs accurately the following procedures to determine the grade of intra-ocular lenses to be used for cataract surgery and correlate findings:
glare test, contrast sensitivity test, potential acuity meter testing, specular microscopy, keratometry, and biometry.
Determines the good visual outcome of post-op patients taken after 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month or until stable.
B. Refractive Laser and ICL Surgery Screening
Performs the following procedures accurately for laser vision correction screening and implantable contact lenses:
corneal topography, aberrometry, pachymetry, pupillometry, pneumatonometry, cyclo-R, and dry manifest reaction
Determines the good visual outcome of post-op patients taken after 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month or until stable.
C. Other Diagnostic Procedures
Performs accurately the measurement of eye pressure using an applanation tonometer, tonopen or pneuma tonometer, tear break up time test (TBUT), Schiemer’s test, visual field test, nerve fiber analyzer, color vision test, and other procedures whenever necessary.
Ensures that all services are functional, complete, and adaptive, and standard operating procedures are properly observed.
III. OPHTHALMIC DEVICE PRESCRIPTION AND DISPENSE
A. Ophthalmic Device Prescription
Accurately prescribes ophthalmic medical devices by releasing valid prescriptions to patients.

Takes measurements, captures images, and adjusts eye parameters to ensure precise centration and fit of frames. This involves using manual instruments or digital position of wear measurement technology.
B. Ophthalmic Device Dispense
Provides guidance in the selection and measurement of necessary data for the ordering of ophthalmic medical devices.
Accurately verifies the finished ophthalmic medical devices prior to dispensing.
Dispenses the medical devices and explains the proper use of the device.
Empowers customers to progress towards and eventually avail of products and services by providing tailor-fit and personalized customer service, emphasizing product or service benefits over costs and risks, and addressing hesitations or resistance.
