BACKGROUND
The Truist Championship is one of eight PGA TOUR Signature Events featuring one of the most premier fields in golf. The Championship will take place May 5 - 11, 2025, at The Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Truist Championship is owned and operated by the PGA TOUR.
EMPLOYMENT DATES & HOURS
Employment Dates*: Monday, February 24, 2025 – Friday, May 23, 2025
Hours Expectation:
40 hours per week, unless otherwise stated.
Significant overtime expected during the following timeframes:
Monday, April 28 – Sunday, May 11
*Applicants are expected to work out of the Truist Championship operations office for the duration of the internship. Applicants are responsible for their own lodging, transportation and food during employment.
DESCRIPTION
The Tournament Operations Intern is responsible for assisting and supporting the Senior Manager of Tournament Operations and the Tournament Operations Specialist in all aspects of tournament execution and operational needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate delivery, proper placement and service schedule with portable restroom partner.
Work with volunteer committees to ensure they are prepared for tournament week.
Assist with placement and set up of all office trailers.
Coordinate golf cart inventory, delivery and pickup; create intake plan and work with volunteer committee tournament week to ensure proper allocation of carts.
Develop credential access boards that illustrate ability to access various areas.
Create and utilize a log for each shipment prior to tournament week; assist volunteer committee during tournament week to ensure proper delivery of shipments.
Oversee any forklift needs the tournament may have. Tournament will provide proper training if needed.
Other operational duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Minimum of 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) with a major in Sports Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or another related field.
OR
Graduating senior or graduate student in an accredited four-year college or university with availability to work in-person, full-time for the duration of the internship.
OR
Currently possess a bachelor’s degree.
Experience: Prior experience with athletics administration, business, communication or event management is preferred
Skill Set Requirements:
Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and computer skills are crucial.
Must take initiative, operate proactively and think independently in project management and problem solving.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Public relations skills and ability to communicate with staff, volunteers and corporate clients.
