Are you ready for a new beginning?

We need your talent, knowledge and dedication to better our world with biology.

Our purpose points the way

In Novonesis, we know that solutions rooted in biology can help solve humanity’s biggest challenges. Since we began more than a century ago, this has been our guide. It’s how we've gotten so far. And it’s how we'll impact the future. Now, more than ever, the world needs change. And with biosolutions, the possibilities for transformation are endless.

We’re here to better our world with biology.

Join us as our new Computational Protein Designer in Molecular Discovery

Welcome to Molecular Discovery

In Molecular Discovery, we integrate several competences such as from wildtype enzyme and protein discovery, molecular biology, assay development, bioinformatics and protein design to identify and engineer enzymes that will succeed in the biosolutions.

The Bioinformatics and Protein Design department is a part of Molecular Discovery. The department help drive integration of the latest computational tools to capitalize on public and internal data assets in the era where we are faced with a wealth of sequence, structure and experimental data. We use bioinformatics, data science and machine learning to identity natural wild-type enzymes in close interaction with other departments. We use computational protein design tools to engineer our protein backbones to fit the production and application needs.

In the role as Computational Protein Designer you will work closely with the rest of the Department of Bioinformatics and Protein Design to help ensure a continued development of our bioinformatics and protein design capabilities, with a focus on insourcing and developing state-of-the-art machine learning- based methods. Apart from this role in the department, you will join a cross-functional agile team. You will be joining a team of dedicated scientists with diverse competences in molecular biology, assay development and screening, protein structure, molecular modelling, wild-type enzyme discovery, data science and machine learning. We bring these competences together to discover and engineer new enzymes and strains. You will enjoy seeing successful protein designs effectively brought to market, helping our customers optimize their processes, save energy, reduce chemicals, and lower the overall environmental impact.

In this role you’ll make an impact by:

  • Developing biological solutions to a broad set of problems in the world of today

  • Through innovation, enabling Novonesis growth in the fields of bioactive proteins

  • Utilizing your data expertise in cross-functional teams to secure successful project execution

To succeed you must:

  • Have a PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, chemistry, biology, physics or similar.

  • Have solid experience with scripting frameworks, preferably Python, and comfortable developing on a shared code stack

  • Have experience from applying/developing machine learning/AI models to protein sequence and/or structure

  • Strength if you have worked with selected protein structure analysis tools such PyMOL, Gromacs, and Rosetta

  • Previous experience with molecular biology or protein biochemistry in industry is an advantage, but not a requirement

  • Be a passionate and result-driven scientist, strong team player with good communicative skills.

  • Be comfortable working in a setup using agile principles and an international research organization where strong communication skills are required

  • Have curiosity to learn new things and drive initiatives to completion (go-do attitude)

  • Be a strong team player with a keen interest in a shared ownership on innovation and timely delivery

Position seniority level will be determined by your background and work experience.
