Job Summary

As a Consulting Enterprise Database/Data Architect at Fifth Third Bank, you will serve as a strategic technical leader responsible for designing, optimizing, and governing enterprise-scale data/database architectures. You will partner with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure data/database solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise goals. This role requires deep expertise in database technologies, data modeling, and architecture patterns, with a strong consulting mindset to influence and guide cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise Data Architecture Leadership
  Lead the design and evolution of enterprise data/database architecture across cloud and on-prem platforms, ensuring alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
• Consulting and Technical Expertise
  Act as a trusted advisor to engineering and business stakeholders, providing guidance on data strategy, architecture patterns, and platform capabilities.
• Platform Engineering Collaboration
  Collaborate with platform engineering teams to support initiatives such as CA$H Platform, AWS migration, and secure cloud framework development 
• Database Optimization and Governance
  Define and enforce standards for data modeling, performance tuning, and database lifecycle management across on-prem, and cloud-native databases 
• Innovation and Modernization
  Drive modernization efforts including automation, observability, and integration of AI/ML capabilities into data platforms.
• Mentorship and Thought Leadership
  Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the Consulting Engineer community by sharing best practices and participating in calibration discussions 

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, database engineering, or related roles.
• Proven expertise in Enterprise grade and open source databases, performance tuning, and data integration patterns  
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), data security, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with consulting or advisory roles in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mainframe modernization and hybrid cloud data strategies.
• Familiarity with Fifth Third’s platform engineering ecosystem and regulatory landscape.
• Prior involvement in large scale modernization initiatives or enterprise architecture communities

Total Base Pay Range 121,900.00 - 262,100.00 USD Annual

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
