Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Leave and Absence Product Design is responsible for overseeing all aspects of leave and absence programs, ensuring alignment with business goals, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards. This role leads process improvement initiatives to optimize leave administration, implements best practices, and monitors key metrics to drive continuous enhancement.

The Senior Manager provides expert guidance and support to the operations team, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to ensure seamless execution of leave policies. Additionally, this position manages vendor relationships, negotiates contracts, and oversees service delivery to maintain high standards and cost-effective solutions for leave administration.

Detailed Position Responsibilities

Product Design

  • Implement and develop leave and absence processes that align with business goals and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of tools and systems that support the administration of FMLA and other leave programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze leave trends and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  • Stay current with changes in leave laws and regulations and ensure company processes and systems are updated accordingly.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees on leave policies and procedures.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Provide oversight for timely renewal of contracts, rate negotiation, and vendor reviews.
  • Lead carrier management review meetings and provide feedback and input.
  • Manage the expenditure for leave administration systems.

Operational Optimization

  • Act as project lead for special projects as assigned, ensuring effective execution, creating a good customer experience and streamlining the process.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives that impact the leave and absence policies and practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on leave policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Payroll, and other departments to ensure seamless administration of leave programs, in the context of the Product Base Operating Model (PBOM) methodology.

Compliance and Governance:

  • Lead compliance efforts to ensure processes meet compliance standards, applicable regulations, and ensure proactive issue resolution.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting leave and absence policies and proactively update processes and documentation to maintain compliance.
  • Partner with Legal, HR, and external advisors to interpret complex regulatory requirements and implement necessary controls.
  • Collaborate with internal and external audits, respond to findings, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain documentation and evidence of compliance for regulatory reviews and inquiries.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks, escalating issues to leadership as appropriate.

Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Lead the integration of acquired employees' into BMS leave programs.
  • Support the transition of employees on extended Leave into BMS as needed.  

Desired Experience

Must have requirements:

  • 5 + years prior in leave and absence management, with a strong focus on process improvement.
  • Experience working in a global role and managing multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Ideal Candidates Would Also Have: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or the equivalent knowledge gained through progressive work experience. 
  • Consulting skills/ impact and influence abilities/ strong stakeholder management skills 
  • Experience working with current BMS HR and TR enabling systems: Workday, ServiceNow, Darwin, ADP.
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and convincing way to staff, callers, and functional business and technical groups.

Compensation Overview:

Warsaw - PL: zł211,667 - zł256,491

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. The final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience and in accordance with pay equity principles and applicable employment laws.
