Job Description :

Your Job: Provides health care services, applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by; or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment, oversees daily operations and acts as a technical supervisor to promote quality and expediency of imaging services. Maintains exemplary medical ethics and demonstrates recognition of patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Your Job Requirements: Minimal Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   1.             Must be a graduate of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology. 2.             Must be licensed with the A.R.R.T. in Radiography. 3.             Must also hold current registration with the Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Radiation Control, Medical Radiological Technologist (M.R.T.) program. 4.             Must have valid healthcare provider CPR card.     Physical Demands and Working conditions:   1.             Subject to electrical and ionizing radiation hazards 2.             Classified Category 1 for exposure to blood borne pathogens 3.             Requires physical and mental stamina; prolonged standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting and stooping. 4.             Requires hearing and visual acuity, exposure to VDT terminals. 5.             Subject to stress, frustration, and fatigue.                   Physical Demands and Working conditions:   1.             Subject to electrical and ionizing radiation hazards 2.             Classified Category 1 for exposure to blood borne pathogens 3.             Requires physical and mental stamina; prolonged standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting and stooping. 4.             Requires hearing and visual acuity, exposure to VDT terminals. 5.             Subject to stress, frustration, and fatigue.                     Your Job Responsibilities:     1.            Performs radiographic procedures. Checks for and documents appropriate physician order. Obtains patient history, explains procedure to patient and obtains appropriate patient consent to perform examination. Scans all pertinent documentation into PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).(20%) 2.            Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest; selects appropriate radiographic technique for optimal image; uses correct markers, ensures images are identified with patient name, date and time of exam. (15%) 3.            Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient self and others; Lmp forms for females of child bearing age are accurately completed. ((10%) 4.            Sends and verifies performed procedures have been received in the PACS system. Follows correct procedure for release of images.. (10%) 5.            Demonstrates proficiency with hospital and department information systems. Can proficiently charge, credit and cancel patient exams and perform other functions necessary for the orderly efficient operation of the department. (10%) 6.            Maintains exam rooms in a clean and orderly fashion. Disinfects room and equipment following patient use. Ensures rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies on daily basis. Assists with departmental inventory on an annual basis. (5%) 7.            Monitors equipment performance. Notifies shift coordinator, manager  or department director of equipment malfunction so that equipment, if necessary, will be removed from service and equipment repair initiated. (5%) 8.            Maintains all appropriate licenses and continuing education documentation. Documents department meetings attended or meeting minutes read. Completes all hospital annual requirements in a timely manner. (5%) 9.            Maintains established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives; participates in quality improvement and  maintains safety environmental  and infection control standards. (5%) 10.          Assists with orientation, training and development of new personnel. (5%) 11.          Performs other duties as assigned or directed by immediate supervisor or department director. (5%) 12.          Utilizes appropriate customer scripting as evidenced by observation and improved patient satisfaction.
